odd problem

Featured Replies

hi all

well after owning the vrs for a good month or so still love it   it has this odd issue where one day it starts fine then the next day or so struggles to start . it will be asap going to skoda once i have booked it in as its still got warranty but just wanted to run the issue threw yourself s so they don't try messing me about. it has also just had a very good run to Belgium and back but before anyone said's fuel it was doing it before i had even gone to Europe so bad fuel there side can be ruled out also it does it even with half a tank. it has also had a service at 11343 miles and has now got 16-17000 but not sure if fuel filter needs changing at that schedule or not.

thx all

p.s sorry about punctuation

Could be an air leak in the fuel system causing fuel to run back to the tank or a faulty tandem pump.

Check under bonnet for smells of diesel indicating a leak somewhere.

sorry i should of mentioned its a petrol or do u mean smell of petrol ??

Either or would indicate a leak of fuel, potentially where air could be drawn in and allow fuel to drain back to the tank.

Assuming it cranks over quite healthy I would say it is likely to be fuel related, possibly worse the longer it hasn't been run but with the electronics on today's vehicles it could be any number of things from simple to complex.

Have it scanned for error codes, that would be your first step in diagnosis and take it from there.
