Fabia's Headlights

Featured Replies

Bloomin heck.I thought the fabia lights were brilliant compared to the candles I am running in the octavia vRS.

Must search re octy lights/bulbs.

:thumbup: Someone posted a link a couple of months ago to a supplier, I got Osram silver stars for dip and the blue vision for main and they threw in a set of bluevision side's.

Good combination, they work well. I may change to proper Xenon's though as I have a kit fitted to the bikes and they are pretty awesome, but expensive at over

My choice (after careful consideration):

Main Beam: H3 Phillips Rally 100W

Can you change the side light bulbs easily on a Xenon equipped car?

As there was no reply. I'll ask again

Not as far as I know, I've looked at mine and I don't know where you'd get your fingers in...

Dealer job I think...:(

Bugger !! I get the car on 1st September and would like to change the side bulbs for LED type from E Bay. Guess I'll have to forget it !! LOL

Right just to confirm these Osram bulbs I want are just for the main beams not the small/side lights.

Confirm the correct size as well please.

Would this effect my warranty.

This reminds me to fit my 100watt Phillips rally bulbs sometime. :D

lol 100 watt  Are they illegal

If you look under your bonnet, you'll see that it's the same plastic cover over both the main beams and the sidelights. It's getting the cover on & off that's the problem, so changing sidelights on a Xenoned car is just as much a pain as changing the main beam bulbs. Best to do both at once.

Assuming you don't have Xenons, you want Osram Silverstars (H7) for the dipped headlight, and (H3) Philips Rallye bulbs for the main beams.

It will technically affect your warranty as they're not Skoda approved bulbs, but it's down to you whether you take the imho small risk! :D

Technically yes - and are sold on the proviso they are just for offroad use. However, as they're only in the main beam's and it's common courtesy to switch to dipped if there's other cars around, I ran mine without upsetting anyone :D

I had some similar ones by PIAA and they were superb. Much better than the standard filament sidelights IMO. Try and get the 'white' effect and not 'blue' as the blue are way too deep in colour. The white contains more than enough blue as it is...:)

I used to run 100/130W Mains with 130W Spots in my MK2! It was great Could see for miles!

I have a mate that used to run 150/200W mains in his Corrado  He had to build fans into the headlights to keep them cool :D

Might check out some super dooper bulbs, sounds like they are a deffo improvement! I guess they are only 55/60's???? As nobody has mentioned running a relay kit?

steve

Liam were you talking about the ones in m ebay link ?

And are you a 'pool fan ?

I was talking about the PIAA ones but the ones in your link are the same thing, therefore, should be just as good. They're just 2 LED's at the end of the day.:)

I am a Liverpool fan mate, yes.:D

good man :D

I got the dealer to change the main beam & side lights for the ones I supplied. Got the old bulbs back as well, they were going to keep them

I just couldnt be bothered doing it myself.

Please be aware that the Xenon-equipped Furby uses different fittings compared to the non-Xenon one! I believe it was H7 for the Xenon-equipped ones.

There is a thread somewhere else that confirmed it  - I should know I've got them but I cant remember :P :o

I have always swapped bulbs out asap after getting a car. I don't bother with those ralley ones, they are illegal for road-use and although you're unlikely to get pulled for it, I've not felt the need. It may be different if you do country-lane-driving though :D

I swapped the indicator bulbs out for some non-egg-effect ones. Again cant remember if it was Osram or Philips, but either is an improvement over standard in the looks department imho.

The way I see it with light-bulb-upgrades:

* More light = more chance of seeing stuff in time

* Better 'colour' light = more chance of seeing stuff in time (as your eyes work better) or alternatively, it cuts through fog better.

I haven't changed the fog light-bulbs. Main reasons for that:

* Standard ones are fine imho

* More light output still wouldn't change my speed - if I have them on it's pretty bad anyway, so my speed will be adjusted downward. If the bulb goes on it I will probably stick a better one in though, but I just don't think it's worth the hassle of changing them.
