the 'Ring Console challenge

DOH!

I don't look in Tech Shed much so this passed me by' date=' but i love GT4!

Devonutopia, thats a very good lap time, i find the caterham really hard to drive on the 'ring because it doesnt seem to have enough suspension travel for the bumps! Its like buckaroo.

I'll try this tonight anyway.

BTW does anyone know why on GT4 the power for your car in the garage is different to the power when a replay starts...it always confuses me.

I guess you are going by 200bhp in the garage?[/quote']

That car is like buckaroo! :grumpy: But stick it to the tarmac alone and its a cracking car. The slightest knock on a kerb or a drift on to the grass and the thing just flies, swerves and crashes. :(

Well, I beat my time.,... IN ANOTHER CAR ;)

I went for reliability over random speed, so got an Elise 111S, and did the works to it, engine modded to dead on 200bhp with first stage nturbo + port polish, and it was very nice indeed. Not the raw speed, but it was a lot more reliable, and more stable. ;)

So the time?

7:54.870. Only 5 seconds off the Caterham, and I think it will go down even more (had one big spin :()

Yep.. GT4 is miles different to Forza... the best laptime in a S spec car (meaning the absolute DADDY cars that are not GT racers is 7.15 in a tuned up Enzo)

7.55 for a class A car

and 8.26 for a group b (what the 200bhp elises etc are in)

Just got 7.57.183 in an elise 111R (201bhp), including one spin.

Might try again later when my palms are less sweaty

1bhp over! :P If I can get picked up on it, then you can.;)

I got 7:29 last night in my Elise 190 running 199 bhp and qualifying slick !!!!!

Have the same car myself, only done it in a tad over 8 mins, I couldn't change down gear due to my pad being busted

Andy do you find it a bit of a skittish car?

I did with uprated suspension - so i changed it back to stock suspension and she is a lot better !!!!

ah! I'll try it again with the standard stuff and give it another shot

An Elise 190? Is that a Forza Elise? Good time anyway. I could only match that in my fully suped up 111R Elise running over 300bhp. I might see about changing the suspension myself as I was having problems as described. may try the half way house setup.

hmmm those qualifying slicks are well expensive! I will have to earn some money.

many of you guys running chipped xboxes, and doing multi on the 'alternatives' to LIVE ?

The good thing about the elise is that it just handles so well, with the slicks on you can carry more speed into the bend as it just keeps gripping, infact it grips too much sometimes that you over steer it :D

NOS is always good as it helps you get a good top speed down the straight I hit 170 in my wee lotus

I didn't use my nos for that time BTW - i will try and get some pics of my time when i have another go tonight :)

 Knew I forgot something. NOS! I couldn't get it above about 155 down the main straight. :( The grip thing is what I really need to learn about though - I see that flashing "you should be in this gear" warning and panic brake, when I should be smoother....

Weird though - I'm starting to actually learn the whole circuit very well, and I'm not really looking at the map anymore.

Yep, its a cool feeling when you realise you know the entire circuit and you can visualise the next corner before you get there :D

Sometimes i still get a bit mixed up on the twisties after carousel though

buy nos and use it on the straights, it will shave a few more seconds off with any luck. Only trouble it you enter everything that bit quicker, I tend to nearly out brake myself, which then looses too much time

When you say "use NOS" - isn't it just there all the time if you buy it?

Is there some button somewhere you have to hit to get it to work?

No it will run out, you can set the strengh of it in the settings screen, to either last longer or give more go. you have a meter to tell you how much you have left and you can hear it aswell!

I think it's R1 that shoots ya load (NOS that is :D )

The NOS lasts me about 2 laps at best, maybe alittle longer depending on set up I've got mine set at 60 if that helps any

Oh.... No NOS allowed :P

as goodas said.. thats my current "sticking point" after the carousel, uphill blind left... i always end up on the grass. :o

Basically you need to come out of the Karousel and stick to the right, then cut across aiming for the armco flat out in 99% of cars - once out of that bend you can aim for the inside of the next left from the outside and brake going into the bend then it goes off to the right, you need to be brave going back on the power and you should keep it on the black stuff - lifting on the way out will help keep it in.

Remember on your settings to reduce your driving aids also. I usually have one on TC and under/over steer gets a 3. But experement. Also in FR and FF adjusting the weight distrabution helps :)

Andy

take that as a no then :D

I think it's mileage that reduces it. One's the power for a car with those mods, the other is what your car's doing! :thumbdwn:

NO nos? Is that an official rule. :) Please clarify before I add it to my car. ;)
