200bhp MAX, RWD - round the Nurburgring

This is primarily for Forza motorsport (me, colinD and ffelan are having a shot)

ive no idea how gt4 would compare, but suppose you could compare with other GT4 players... anyone gonna give it a go?

I'll have a bash on GT4 later. Havent opened the Ring up on Enthusia yet.

forzas ring is alot longer than the GT4 one you can tell on the straight ill have a go the now and see what i can get

Don't know if anyone wants to start a league or anything but the marker for my first lap with my new 200bhp car (only 1bhp away from that marker ) is 8:52.304

Quite chuffed to get a sub 9 minute lap first time.

had a few offs - going to see if I can sort the handling of this car, and I think I need to put it in manual box mode - Its holding the higher gears too long! :(

im not 100% sure i read it on GTP and you can tell that the straight on the forza verson goes on for longer than the one on gt4

Manual gears are the way to go with this beast. Damn thing won't stay on the ground though and I never realised how many corners are first gear ones.

Forza uploads all your laps to xbox live... and people in your friends list can download and watch them...

GT4 and forza laps are un-comparable.. as Forza adds time on for time spent on grass etc.. plus my 200bhp machine struggled to get a sub 10min lap (and we dont have superlites cars)

Lying!??? :P Well, I took a camera shot of my latest fast lap... I don't think I'll be able to squeeze under 8 minutes. Its a booger of a car to handle, and the slightest kerb touch makes the front end take off and you lose all traction and go straight off. :(

Shall keep trying though!

edit: I think for this to work properly you need to dictate the precise car model, then allow 100% modding and THEN see what the best lap is under the same conditions!

Got a sub 8 minute lap in - was carking it down the final straight as the car was jumping about all over the shop. Who's gonna guess what I'm driving then. I'd have thought my symptoms so far would narrow it down a fair bit.

Well, best bet for forza drivers is either an elise or a VX.

PS2 cant be comparable, just been looking at the xbox live leaderboard for the ring... best lap in a Group B car (what a 200bhp light car comes under) is about 8:35

How heavy is an Elise on Forza? :confused:

Can't be ar5ed to hide it anymore, here's my "ghost" at the beginning of the lap. Caterham 7 fireblade - Only power is from 8000 to 12000rpm. 201bhp thanks to single turbo mod and engine balancing, then just given best brakes, suspension, transmission, tyres, lightening as if it needs it. Tried to mod the suspension but its gonna be a beeyatch around the 'Ring whatever, skippy as hell. :( Gotta like taking it to 80mph in first though.

Well, I had a choice of one mod for 199bhp, and another for 201 - I chose the latter. I can easily swap mods and have another go. At least I've kind of learned to control the car which is why I was able to knock nearly a minute off my first lap attempt.

I may have found another option... if i can tame the handling its only got 4 gears, but weighs alot less than the elise... tuning... well, i can either tune up the engine in it, or drop in the 2.7 boxer engine out of a 911 RS

Does that affect the weight? :confused: I assume its current engine is some 2.0 / 1.8 affair? Maybe turbo'd? I've decided to rest the PS2 now so my time of a few tenths under 8 minutes will have to stand - Add on 5 or 10 seconds for my 1bhp excess if need be.

i've been trying but on forza, will give gt4 a go in a bit. but i got a 9:17 i think in my elise 111 with 200bhp and 165lbft

Well I've gone old school

In my Lotus Elan, first attempt with a good 10seconds of back wheels over the kerb on one of the bends grrr.... 9:57 but I was off line...it will go faster, but I suspect the newer elises will go better...I know the car I want, but I've not unlocked it yet

Next is to try the litle old Porsche or Lancia Stratos, old skool is the way to go

I'm not sure anything with 200bhp is going to go around quicker than a Caterham?

But if the rules need to be changed to use just a certain marque instead, then I shall refresh my challenge in the morrow!

Still worth a go...power to weight is your friend...handing can be fixed eventually, might be a few weeks in setting it mind

I don't look in Tech Shed much so this passed me by, but i love GT4!

Devonutopia, thats a very good lap time, i find the caterham really hard to drive on the 'ring because it doesnt seem to have enough suspension travel for the bumps! Its like buckaroo.

I'll try this tonight anyway.

BTW does anyone know why on GT4 the power for your car in the garage is different to the power when a replay starts...it always confuses me.

I guess you are going by 200bhp in the garage?
