Brake disc/pad help!

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,

Probably another stupid question but do you need to get vehicle specific brakes and pads for your car?

Or does it not matter as long as they are the right size, i.e.e 312/256mm

And do you need to get front and rear specifics? Or will 256mm front discs and pads, fit on the back (if you have the upgraded calipers/carriers)

Any idea of the best place to get some/what brand?

Thanks in advance.

You need disc and pads that are specific to the type of brakes fitted, e.g. to match the callipers and the mountings.

As for brand, buy the best, never take a risk with brakes.

As above but i'd replace 'best' with 'known brand'. Bosch/Pagid are OE and are adequate unless you're running more power. For the tiny cost involved change the fluid as well, it'll make more of a difference than spending more money on slotted/grooved discs and race pads that only really show a benefit when you have a fair bit of heat in them (eg not on a cold/wet Monday morning at first application).
