wOw your so clever,i would not have worked that out in a million years, some brainless moron comes out of a sliproad 3foot in front of you, actually if you cant enter motorway by the end of the slip road you are meant to stop, not push in which is probavly what you do by the sounds of it, I put a post up about a negative of the system,

You are NOT meant to stop at the end of the slip road if you can't join. Stop with the possibility of following cars rear-ending you!!!  Getting into this situation is nearly always the result of poor forward planning.  The police advice if you can't merge into the traffic on the motorway is to drive on the hard shoulder until you can merge in.  In over 40 years of driving I have never not been able to merge into moving traffic on a motorway unless blocked by cars ahead of me on the slip-road.

On the original subject of this thread  - I had a test drive in a MkIII vRS and found the Lane Assistance very intrusive on a motorway.  However, I didn't have time to try its different settings.  I don't indicate unnecessarily and so don't always signal when returning to a lane to my left after overtaking.  If no other driver will benefit from the signal why indicate?  When driving with an ex-police class 1 driver I indicated when approaching a roundabout when no other traffic was in sight in any direction.  His comment was "Why indicate?  The only other person in sight was him and he had no choice but to go where I went".

  • Use it on motorways and long dual carriageway trips.

  • So follow the highway code and you won't have any problems... simples!

  • Scroll through the maxidot to driver assist (or whatever it actually is!) and then scroll down and the option to turn on/off should pop up. Simples. I'm sure it's in the manual somewhere.
