Surging/ fluctuating revs - V-power Nitro?

Featured Replies

The Esso Fawley refinery on Southampton water (largest in UK apparently) has all sorts of different branded trucks pulling in and out not just Esso. Maybe different mix of additives etc added but all from the same refinery.

Interesting that the Esso refinery in Fawley is the largest in the UK (20%).

Greenergy is described as "one of the UK’s largest road fuel suppliers". It doesn't seem actually to refine oil so presumably it buys petrol in on the open market from other refiners in the UK (e.g. Esso) and elsewhere, blends it and distributes it to retailers such as Morrisons, Sainsburys, Tesco and others.  The only distinguishing feature of Tesco Momentum 99 is likely to be that like Shell V-Power Nitro+ it is 99 RON.

Refineries are not just Diesel & Petrol.

LPG. Jet Fuels, Heating Oils, Petrochemicals. & all the rest.

99 Octane minimum is what they are tested to. (To the MON)

That is the point,  they are not 95, 97 or 98 minimum

Momentum shows the Spec, but that does not cleatly show the Additive as such.

Shell V-Power needs searched out to find the Spec, & the Additives/Detergents are also secret.

They should perform much the same.

You can just buy 102 RON or 107 ron race fuels and no additives.

Wonderful stuff.

Or European Mainland 100-102 RON, nice and not very expensive.

To misquote George:

Your 1.2 TSI is not recommended as needing Super Unleaded anyway, so maybe just be sure of using good fuel from a specialist petrol retailer.

Just because a petrol station is tied to a Grocer's shop, that is not guaranteed.

;)

Are you there to provide humour, assistance to members  or to pith people like me off ?

What is your opinion on different fuels refined at different refineries, or blending at different locations?

How do you feel about fuel Octanes for different engines and tunes?

What experiences have you had of different fuels, Heavy Oil, Petrol , LPG etc.

Do you find much difference in weather & seasons, with winter spec fuels.?

Does different Fuel & Performance, Economy or vehicle efficiency/tuning interest you?

Luckily Manufacturers recommend the Minimum Fuel & the Recommended fuel for the engine,

you fill up with that or a better Octane and see how it goes, and if you do not like what you bought, you try something else.

It cost about £1.26 - £1.36 a litre & plenty of choices.

You need a Gallon of it to drive from around 20-60 miles,

so plenty of opportunity to try different stuff as you drive cars.
