Dogbone super pro bush

Featured Replies

Really? Maybe it wasn't fitted properly... The vibration from the Powerflex one is barely noticeable.

I have the diesel powerflex one. Id say the vibration is noticeable (e.g my sheering wheel shudders a little in traffic now) but not enough to change it. though i did too consider putting a few holes through it to reduce it a little, but i live with it now to be honest.

Does it feel better in the corners? Yes (in my opinion), doesn't feel like the engine is slopping about and dragging the car off (e.g understeer). Could this all be in my mind. Yes.

I do have the first half of a 2 part video. e.g before changing. tried to get vid after fitting but phone died and haven't got round to it since.

I hear what you're saying, but, 'the proof is in the pudding' as they say. Call it placebo affect or whatever you want to, I can honestly say that I prefer it over a standard bush as it seems to have firmed things up nicely and many many other people agree.

That's a perfectly fair opinion, I don't see any engineering reason why you shouldn't fit one, but equally there is no good reason why you should. The only negative connotation here is the transmission of engine vibration, that's the only reason why transversely mounted engines don't have rigid dogbones otherwise they most certainly would, the transmitted vibrations would lead to fatigue failures, fasteners loosening and would be very unpleasant for the vehicles occupants, diesels are even worse than petrols for this.

Any vehicle modification needs a purpose unless it's purely aesthetic, most modifications are a compromise where you're altering the vehicles operational envelope, there are very few mods which don't sacrifice something in order to enhance another thing, you should not modify something simply because you can. The manufacturers of modified components have but a single purpose; to sell as much of their product as they can, that's how business works and there are many vehicles which do benefit from PU steady bushes, older rod change gearboxes benefit from more rigid mountings since it makes the shifting more precise and will often enhance the performance of quickshifters considerably, those days are pretty much gone now but the marketing legacy remains and PU bushes are incredibly simple and cheap to make in just about any colour you like once you're tooled up for it.

This looks a little more robust than the ones VW sell, the bolt in the middle of this picture sheared through the metal on my Polo 2002 model and that dogbone mount was only two years old, brand new from VW!

Crikey, wonder why that happened. Was that just the 1.2 engine as well?

If anyone wants a yellow Powerflex bush, you can have the bugger for nowt. Not even done 200 miles.

Happy to take it and cover postage :) Was it that bad on the mpi though?

The powerflex one will still vibrate, but not as bad. It will vibrate nmore in the cabin, if your top engine mounts are tired. I think mine are showing slight signs of this, and I may change mine.I have the powerflex one, thumbs up from me....

although, i reckon if I dont change the top mounts soon, i'll chop in in for OEM dobone

It's yours then :) Have PMd you

Tbh I'm a bit of a perfectionist and get OCD about rattles and vibrations. Most people would probably think it was OK I reckon. The car is most definitely smoother with a standard dogbone on though.

I'm not sure what people expect. You are replacing the old bush with a Solid one. It will vibrate. I've done about 100 mile since fitting mine and it vibrates a little, Not enough to bother me though.

I'd stick with oem best compromise between comfort n performance ... Not that expensive to

I have the red powerflex. I did instantly notice increased cabin vibration, but as everyone says what do you expect fitting a solid/stiffer bush.

I feel it has quietened down, but you can still notice it on idle. Through the steering wheel especially.

And even more so when starting the car lol

I had a powerflex Bush in but just taken it off the judder when taking off and gearstick rattling done my head in

Also does not help that the fabia interior is cheaply put together and rattles, this makes it worse imho

Fresh standard bushes is my preferred choice

Saying that I'm remapped now to 385nm torq that may shorten the life on my mounts.,,

But as said I'd rather have comfort as I do mainly city driving

can you get the oem from anywhere but skoda? I have had trouble tracking them down,I thought gsf would sell them but I cant see them on the website
