VAG Code reader

Featured Replies

I am looking at purchasing a Sealey VS8651 Oil and Service reset tool  for my 2010 1.6 TDI.

Amazon are currently selling them for  £242 has anyone purchased one and is it any good. If no good can any recommend one suitable ????

For that money I would look at buying Ross-Tech VCDS, its a tiny bit more but does a lot more than just reset the service indicator.

£242....thats a rip off. As above, buy a ross tech vcds and you can do....well, anything

These units are sold under several brand names. I have one and I paid £100 for it from amazon. I later saw it for just £50 on the same site. So no it isn't worth 250.

It does read codes and resets them and it is VAG specific.

I kind of resets the service interval but whilst you can read the current days and mileage since service and to the next, to be frank it never really worked for variable services. After a few months the service light would come on.

I wouldn't buy it again for a ton but it is worth the fifty since the first time you use it you get the value.

In terms of doing what VAGCOM does, set I options etc, it doesn't.

Hope this helps.

I have a gendan (quicklyncs) t55 its bag specific and can access most if not all of the various canbus units, read codes and clear them as well as do service light resets and abs light resets. At £65 it has already paid for itself on my cars and my colleagues cars. It can't do coding changes though but is cheaper than vcds...

Under the steering wheel and to the right. About a foot away from the catch to open the bonnet. It's purple in colour.

.....and kinda looks like SCART's cousin.

Okay car all serviced and attempted to rest the service interval with the Genden T55 .The Genden T55 states it has been reset but not showing this on the vehicke. The car did go over the service interval by 600. I have rest it using the dash method but was jst wondering why or if anyone had the same issues.

Nope not had that problem but occasionally it does take a couple of attempts for some reason.
