Last chance on this 3rd new one in as many weeks.

Same model hp again.

Think they're getting as sick of seeing me as I am of them tbh.

So far....so good.

I DO NOT BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :@

I mean, really, someone pinch me please, as this cannot be happening for a third time in less than 3 weeks.

Surely this cannot be linked to anything to do with the actual computer could it?

Well you haven't actually told us what is happening this time, but it's unlikely that every printer you buy is faulty so it could be your PC.

Even I'm thinking that now, but HOW, i mean how can an unknown unspecified unknown fault on the PC that appears to be working just fine be cabbaging all these printers?

All extremely mysterious this.

Could it just be a coincidence I ask?

Sorry, that agitated that i forgot to say.....press print and the paper feeds in fine, and comes out completely blank!

I'm going to delete the printer program  thingy, and reload it with the disc that came with THIS printer.

Didn't bother using this new disc as I used the one in the previous exact same model last week, and the bloke in PC World said I didn't need to.

Initially it worked absolutely fine.

Could be your firewall.

Does it work if you disabled your wireless on the laptop??

Haven't got a laptop.

Tell you what i have just done. Checked the ink levels, and they're fine.

Scrolled down a bit further and decided to do a clean.....and it PRINTED out a report in colour. :wall:

Printer must be ok then, so it has to be a mystery fault in the pc somewhere, somehow.

Why did it work ok last night though?

That sounds very much like a PC problem. Can you do a test print on the printer without it connected to the computer? That will prove that there's ink in it, the print head works and so on.

All working on its own? Right, connect it to the PC, go to device manager and then right click on the printer and uninstall it, picking the option to delete the drivers. Now uninstall any software that you've added for it and reboot.

Connect the printer again and leave it to see if it will auto detect and install drivers. If it does, now print a test page and see if it works.

Where do I find the 'device manager'?

Have seen it, but can't remember where or when.

Part 1 worked btw

Control panel, System, Device Manager - assuming WinXP

Laser toner can be expensive but it does last a long time typically 1500+ pages.

Mono means black and white.

Colours are dearer to run.

I run an old Samsung mono laser, it's probably 8yr old now. I'm now using compatible toners from Amazon. I got 2 for £25 Vs £70 for one branded Samsung.

The lack of software support will kill this printer before it actually dies itself.

We get colour photo prints from internet services.

I've got an old (I still listen to hear if there's a Flintstone printer bird inside)  an Apple laser writer, I was given as a present by an IT company for a job I did for them over 15 years ago. It's not great on one offs, but ask it to print 20 pages ,and it's far faster than my WF2010 .However, the WF 2010 does very good quality photo prints, but at the cheapest comparable ink price of £20 for a full refill, then perhaps Asda photo booth might be cheaper.
