Just done Audi S1 Configurature - God just take the basic car, for fun!

Featured Replies

Just noticed that Audi website now has a Configurator in operation, for pre-ordering I assume.

God that price climbs very quickly toward £30k, without many bells and whistles specified.

Yes.

If you want a car well specified they do climb quite nicely.

I was looking at the A6 All Road and making a car worthy of the badge (IMO) added £12k of extras! :D

£475 to turn the chrome grille black?

Really? :wonder:

Yep BossFox, that's a good starter example !

I was amused by another part.

It's £1,200 odd for the "Quattro Styling Kit" and then you can delete the rear quattro spoiler elsewhere as a no cost option.

So you pay a daft amount for a styling kit and then remove a big part of it for free, just leaving you the rest.

Mine came to £31,290.

Making my forthcoming Fiesta ST-3 for £18,000 look like good value. :D

Boss,

Is that 3 door S1?

Boss,

Is that 3 door S1?

I specced a 5 door.

If there is a choice I always go for the 5 door as the doors are smaller and the seat belts are easier to reach.

Sadly I couldn't do that on the ST as we only get a 3 door in the UK. :(

If they did a 5 door ST it would be sat on my drive. :(

Some cracking Golf R leasing deals about.

Bluechilli were doing it for £269 a month on a 6+36 deal. Gateway were doing £293 a month on a 5 door metallic.

Ok so you loose the deposit but considering some on here are paying over £300 on a Fabia pcp it's a cracking price.

I think the operative word here is 'were'.

These deals have now dried up and are approx. £80-£100 / month more than they were.

I got mine in just before they disappeared :)

I think that with a lot of the better Audi models - 'S' upwards, they are usually fairly well spec'd already. I would rather have a standard S1 than a well spec'd A1 1.4TSi.

My S4 has quite a few bells and whistles on it (I bought it 3 months old so had been spec'd already), and TBH I don't use most of them.

It's not a common view shared on a lot of forums (especially Audi forums), but I don't need a bucket load of options on my car. They are the manufacturers ploy at removing money from your pocket, and in the main not good value. Very good for bragging about on a forum though :)

It's only coloured chrome isn't it? Just plastic as is the black. Chrome colour looks naf so they are probably betting on people paying extra for black...

Chrome looks good on some colour combo's :)

Bossfox, ST-3? is that a typo or is there 3 variants of the fiesta st now?

its still top of my list come change time, that or the 208 GTI

It is. :)

They released the ST-3 about a month ago.

It comes complete with Sat Nav, auto lights/wipers, Sony DAB, cruise, keyless go etc... you can get them new for around £18k.

It's so well kitted as standard I've only added rear parking sensors and the darker wheels. (+ Mountune)

And I'm normally really bad on adding extra kit which you never see a return on come trade in time.

cool thats making me want one even more now, along with the tune im almost sold on it now, cheers

Stay away from the peugeot/bmw thp engine.

Notorious for timing issues and carbon build up.

I just did the S1 configurator, a bit gobsmacked was going to post on here had anyone else only to see this thread!!

£31,305.00 was the price after removing some of the 'very nice to have's' for a 5dr

I am still very tempted, but might have to wait a year or so...

BTW.. DTD are showing about a 9% discount already for the S1 :)

DTD have the basic ST for £14,300. Now that's a bargain.

Reading the comment above, gives rise to my gut fell from the views above, telling me that Skoda are missing out on the middle ground of a performance quality hatch.

By not having the Balls to have a Fabia vRS MK3 vRD or vRS with manual of DSG in the window range of opportunity £20-£23 k.

Polo variant could come in about £23-25k

We can't wait 3 years from launch for the MK3 vRS, it needs to be in the model line up and available from day one.

Why do you think Ford, Mini (BMW) etc. can well see the market opportunity , yet The Skoda Executives cannot.

Ford can't sell enough Fiesta ST's, so wake up Skoda and smell the coffee.

It would seem to me that the S1 might be an overpriced option for this market. Lets see what take up there is from June I guess.

Oh! you can still have the lower cost look of a Monte as well if you wish.

Yes there were early issues and the engine has received various upgrades since 2006. The late variants have a good reliability record.

Saying that the Fiesta ST doesn't use that engine, the 1.6 Ecoboost is built my Ford's engine plant in the UK and is not the same engine as used by PSA/BMW/Mini.
