Oh right. Thats no good. A little letter to mitsubishi is it then? Haha.

Iv got 35w but am tempted to upgrade to the 55w. Im just unsure if the extra heat will be a problem. You do get more light output off a 35w hid than any 55w halogen though. Imo.

Hmm. Get what you pay for i guess. My mate got some cheap and the ballasts failed to start in no time, but then others have had no problems.

I just wanted to fit and forget really, and the hids direct kits are only £58, with a 2 year warranty. Fingers crossed, iv not had to mess with them yet.

i didn't look into it too much and just took that as my answer at the time, but after having xenons in my old focus st i miss being able to see at night!

Heat is hardly ever an issue most of the time you're moving and thus cooling the headlights, the only time i have ever found something to fail is when i was searching for bulbs for my old citroen c1 where somebody had fit 100w bulbs in a 10yo car and it shorted the wires out due to heat. that is THE only incident i have found.

see thats what i want, fit and forget, if im doing it though i would like it to be done to its best though so thats why im looking at 55w.

i think i will go with HID Direct due to their warranty.. i dont want to be doing a half job then having to fit new ballasts in the future :(

have you got a picture of how you installed them? i dont actually have a clue how they fit, where to mount ballasts right now...

You can make the bulb holders fit. Its just abit of a squeeze to get the plugs through the hole in the middle, but it will go.

People mount them in various places. Iv got one on the air box, and one on the left hand side, using a threaded hole already in the car. So i just put an m8 (i think it was m8) Allen head bolt in there, and put it on. :).

Some people have found much better places though

cheers for that! i think i will give it a go and try and make them fit through, i dont want to be removing too much from this car..i would love to install these within the headlights so theyre tucked away nicely, i will have to wait till my kit turns up and see if this is possible :)

Youll struggle mate.

You might have to cut 20mm round holes in the back of the rubber boots too, but you can pick a new set up from a dealers for about £14 a pair, should you put normal bulbs in again, so its not the end of the world.

Id give you a hand, but im a fair way from Aberdeen haha

so you think i will struggle to fit the bulbs/cables through the original bulb holders? if thats the case should i buy some of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270525529021&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

im just tight and dont want to spend any more than i need to.

i dont mind cutting holes in the back of the original rubber boots. im planning to keep this car for a while anyway :)

ahh that would have been appreciated, shame you're so far away..

Iv got a set of them clips mate, but they wouldnt fit into the car properly for some reason. So i have up and used the originals again hsha.

Maybe get another set of the originals for if you change bulbs back for mot. Then you dont have to get the clips off the hid again.

Just a thought :).

Youll be fine anyway mate. Once you've got your head around the first one, it will only take you 10 mins to do the second

Don't forget there a a few cubby holes under the standard boot floor around the spare wheel.

I have lots of bits and pieces there.

i got a set of 55w HID 5000k, white label cheap units off ebay. have work flawless for the past winter. (previously had 35w 6k ebay HIDs which worked perfectly for the 2 years they where fitted) only issue is you might get a bulb with a skewed element (glued off axis in the holder) in which case replacement bulb is about £5 for another pair. which i don't complain. the ballasts are as good as any branded ones I've found. all fully weatherproofed and with inline capacitor for nice smoothed out power delivery to the igniter. the difference in output from 35w to 55w is stark. heat is not an issue I've found so its all gravy.

hey Wibb,

i have already bought a HID Direct kit for my driving lamps. any chance you could send me the kit you have bought? i may want to use this for my mains! :)

Hids in high dont work very well.

Iv done it. They take too long to warm up and the constant on/off buggered the bulb in no time.

Iv gone back to osram night breakers for high beam

Class, i'll stick to the bulbs i have right now, currently i have some cheap silver tinted bulbs which light up all different colours haha people actually notice when you flash them out of a junction which is very handy! :) cheers for the messages BTW, haven't had chance to read them yet, work is hectic. These: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130495358688?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Haha. Not seen them before.

No problem mate. Let me know if theres anything else i can help you with :)

they're horrible. its like a rainbow in your main beam housings! blue, green, purple, orange, god knows how they have sold over 2000 units?!

But theyre only mains and people see them when you flash so its not all bad! :)

Thanks BTW
