Selling Octy Vrs for a Fiesta ST2 ? - am i mad?

Featured Replies

One of the guy's at work recently got a white ST2. He in my opinion downgraded from a Kuga to one. He's also 'camp' so to speak. Not my choice of car, the last so called sporty ford I had was a pale blue mk2 1.6xl Capri

  • There's no way a standard diesel vRS is quicker than a standard Fiesta ST (new one), the power to weight is too much in the ST. Both can be re-mapped to similar figures, so I'd assume the ST would sti

Downgraded from a Kuga? Do you have hands of butter and feet of lead? :-)

Its hard to beat a proper hot hatch for grins per mile. Even old stuff that would feel archaic these days would put a smile on your face.

A Kuga would send me to sleep in a heart beat.

Bigger, more comfortable cars have their place, but so do small, nippy cars.

I love my Octy vRS petrol estate. I also love my Panda 100HP. Each one puts a smile on my face every time drive it - sometimes only because I really notice the difference between the two.

Octy: very fast, smooth power delivery, awesome DSG gearbox, relatively refined.

Panda: still feels quite quick (half the power, but lots lighter), amazing handling, quick manual box.

Each to their own chaps - and less of the anti-chav and homophobic comments - you do yourselves a disservice!

Indeed. Makes me laugh when I read that sort chav homophobic nonsense. I wonder how many that come out with that sort of guff have actually driven the cars they are commenting on.

Fiesta > Kuga

I like the white tbh.

when it came out i thought it was fugly the new st but it really has grown on me.

I am not saying its not a nice car, I love the MX5, but that too is a hairdressers car IMHO. I look at cars such as Fiesta ST's, Puma's, MX5's, Clios, Fiat 500's, etc etc and then i look at the people I know who own them. All of them are gay or very camp men, female teachers, female hairdressers, young girls, old ladies, and so on. See the trend.

Even my dad who had a Fiesta ST for less than a month before saying yep i remember why i dislike small cars, and non VAG cars and returned to the fold.

This is going off topic and i know i have touched a few nerves, but now I will touch more...

Other cars I wont own... Saab convertible, Audi convertible, Merc convertible, actually any convertible unless its a supercar as these also put you firmly into the bracket of questionable direction if you are a guy. I know one chap who bought a Fiesta and a MR2 convertible with redundancy and we all took the **** and pointed out a 45 year old guy should be driving something more manly, to which he replied well actually guys, you have all worked with me for 15 years and i have kept it a secret!

But at the end of the day its each to their own, and as Rowan Atkinson pointed out, you think you look cool driving a car till you see your reflection in a shop window and realise you dont.

Homophobia - the worst disease.

You should be banned from the forum for such a blatant homophobic post.

As on one of BossFox's topics on here, it looks like a bottom feeding fish.

the fact you use those terms and obviously think they are acceptable confirms you are homophobic.

Oh no. No greenhouse, however I do have a brick built shed with full lights and electric lol

Tidied this thread up, removing the offensive comments

Any more will result in warning points/mod approval to post... and a possible ban

I have a Fiesta ST2 and a PD170 VRS mapped by Shark with DPF delete.

Cars are like chalk and cheese, the Skoda feels faster low down with masses of torque but it's like a barge in the corners compared to the Fiesta and has limited driver involvement.

The Fiesta is utterly brilliant as a driver car, suspension is very firm though. But it's far more fun on a B road and a LOT faster than the Skoda because of the speed it can carry through a bend.

I like both but they are very different cars. Oh, got one as I get Ford staff discount and fancied trying it or a year.

exactly what im finding...

fiesta - b road king handles like its on rails, drive everywhere like you stole it but you wouldn't want to carry a fat bird in the car with you as theres no room

vrs - ive reached that point in life where a big boot and loads of room for my now fat bird and child/child to be/track bike spares is a priority when choosing my next car but I still want a bit of broom under the bonnet.

my god how I miss my fiesta

just got back from my test drive, very pleased with it indeed

they ended up taking the car from the showroom, it was a red st2 with style pack it seemed.

seats are lovely and just want to hug you all the time,. the gear shift is very nice and pretty short throw for stock imo - mountune quick throw much be insane!

at low speed it wasnt as torqy as my octy vrs diesel though, i had trouble feeling when the turbo kicked in although i wasn't really pushing it with the sales guy in the passenger seat

power was there on tab when needed and felt very chuckable compared to my vrs lol smiley1.gif

all in all really liked it

need to start thinking about how im going to sell my vrs now before putting an order in for the st at G2L

Having driven many a hot hatch over the years*, my Clio 182 Trophy is the second most entertaining drive - only beaten by my wife's S2000 that we traded against the VRS Estate (offspring, bikes, trailers, pram etc etc etc.) Afraid we've tested the ST and it didn't measure up to other things we were looking at - we actually had more fun in a Panda 100, because it felt like you were going to die at any minute.

Keep the practical motor and get an older hot hatch or a ragtop for chuckles. If you do want to do a change, go a Meggy.

*Old style RS, Escort Cosworth, 1.6 and 1.9 GTi, Mk2 16v GTi, T5, Type R etc

Meganes a good shout. If I had the choice I would probably get a 2 year old 265. Frequently at the top of the hot hatch list.

Tbh I preferred my old Mk2 XR2 for fun factor over the ST, I test drove a 2011 one just before Xmas when my sister was changing cars, she ended up buying the 1.4 Titanium due to insurance (business use) but personally I'd rather have the new Corsa VXR

Another shout for the Panda 100HP - see my sig.

They can be picked up very cheaply, are cheap to run and have lots of toys - climate, BT, etc and can come with pano roof. Also practical with four doors etc.

Great fun on B roads!

That's difficult to understand as it hadn't actually been launched in 2011, only the concept had been shown and then officially announced at the Geneva Motorshow in 2012. Production started sometime after that. Think you are talking about the wrong car.

The perfect example of a car that proves that you don't need a lot of power to have proper fun. 100HP is a great little go cart of a car! :)
