Selling Octy Vrs for a Fiesta ST2 ? - am i mad?

Featured Replies

That's difficult to understand as it hadn't actually been launched in 2011, only the concept had been shown and then officially announced at the Geneva Motorshow in 2012. Production started sometime after that. Think you are talking about the wrong car.

We maybe it was a 2012/2013 then? Thought it was the same year as the one she bought.

  • There's no way a standard diesel vRS is quicker than a standard Fiesta ST (new one), the power to weight is too much in the ST. Both can be re-mapped to similar figures, so I'd assume the ST would sti

  • I cant believe we have badge snobbery from people who drive Skodas lol   Went to look at an ST2 this week, was very nice just not big enough for me

Never thought about the panda 100. It really fun to drive?

Also suzuki swift sport

Here's our list

Suzuki swift sport

Seat Ibiza fr edition

Alfa mito

ST

Peugeot 208 XY 156BHP - GTI is just too dear.

Clio GT line, again, the sport 200 is just too dear to justify.

I'm hoping the Mrs will love the ST but we shall see. Its predominantly her car so she has to get a small say in it :-)

Friends just changed from a Suzuki Swift to a Fiesta ST2.

It's interesting to hear others comments, I have to say I'm impressed though & I don't think I've read a review that isn't glowing. It would never be my main car (far too impractical for a family) & if it was a keeper it would need more power, but it's a very good package and far more of a drivers car than the five pot Focus's I owned.

The Panda 100HP is great fun! See my post #54 in this thread.

I haven't felt so connected to the road since my 1.9 GTI.

The Panda isn't that quick, but it feels it!

Awesome little car. Have a look at Autotrader. Lots out there!

Does any one know where i can find a hairdressers course to take as a (very) mature student?

Have been looking round for a Summer 'fun' car to go with the staid Yeti due soon, & seen a 1.8 sport for sale that am going to look at in the next few days, only really considered looking at one of these after seeing a repeat of TG where hamster test drove one.  Really wanted to go for an S2000 or Elise, but prices & running costs are just a tad too rich for my pocket.

What's your budget? Would you consider a French car?

I used to slag Renault of something rotten, would never have considered one. However, had £3k to get a second run around and wanted something fun to drive. Bought a Clio sport 182.

It's a total gem of a car. Puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it. Cheap to run and awesome when booting it. Handles like a go-cart and there's so much feedback through the steering wheel that it makes my vRS feel quite numb.

I absolutely love it and am a Renault convert.

If I'd had a bit more, would have for the Trophy with the Sachs suspension. Meant to be incredible.

It is...

Clio is an excellent shout as an economical and fun car and from direct experience, it will. or disgrace itself on a run with Elise's.

The Elise is something else though. If you have the funds to run (also to buy) a second car and can garage it, you will be rewarded with a car that's an experience to drive every time you get in it. Running costs are generally reasonable too with 35-40 mpg, cheap insurance (my renewal is £285 with trackdays and guaranteed value) and if you buy a S1 you will loose no money; indeed it will probably rise in value.

A DC2 is another option but they are in demand - fabulous drivers car though.

On A sensible note I just spoke to someone getting rid of an  ST Fiesta because the fuel consumption was ridiculous,

Sensible and hot hatch shouldn't be in the same sentence...:-)

I get around 25mpg from a 1.7 puma, no doubt it would be much better with someone else behind the wheel - my Mrs gets significantly better mpg when she drives it.

That was so good I said it twice!

That would be the old ST150 I'm guessing, five speed box, old engine design, really bad mpg. The manager at the garage used to average 20 mpg in his!

Currently averaging 37mpg in mine on mixed driving and it's brand new. A friend averages 45mpg into work and the dealer reckoned even if you drove a run in example hard you would still see 35mpg.

They are very different cars.

I used to have a vx220 and running costs not bad, insurance cheap, 40mpg achievable, vauhall engine/gearbox if it goes wrong, very solid residuals.

Only downside really was the stupid sized front tyres which are only made by bridgestone, basically you had to buy the wrong sized tyres slightly or they took your eyes out.

You can change wheels on a VX though and that dials out some of the understeer. It will never be as involving as a S1 Elise though but cheaper to buy.

I believe you also have to change the hubs too which is a bit of a clart on.

God, I was unaware of that! I did consider a VXT at one point but stayed with Lotus - on no4 now!

I just wanted to join in and have a giggle about the suggestion that the MX5 is a hairdressers car.

Must be an awful lot of hairdressers in the world, they've sold nearly a million of the buggers.

I'd love an MX5.

On topic...

The Fiesta ST is a fine choice of car - would love to take one of those out on the B-Roads.

i actually looked at MX5's, supposed to be an immense fun car

when i was looking at them a few weeks back i saw loads on the road, and all of them driven by women, couldn't believe it! even the kitted out imports. lol id still have one though but cant convince the wife that 2 seats is good idea with 2 kids lol

hence my next choice the Fiesta ST

Budget is 3k,  but we both really want an open top car,  The MX5 am going to see has the original hard top with it, so can put it on IF want to, however it will most likely be in a bag on a trolley & be used VERY little, but we at least have the option.

Back on topic -  Do you know if Ford have the one you want in stock, or will you have to wait a week for it to be built & delivered ?
