Budget is 3k,  but we both really want an open top car,  The MX5 am going to see has the original hard top with it, so can put it on IF want to, however it will most likely be in a bag on a trolley & be used VERY little, but we at least have the option.

Back on topic -  Do you know if Ford have the one you want in stock, or will you have to wait a week for it to be built & delivered ?

  • There's no way a standard diesel vRS is quicker than a standard Fiesta ST (new one), the power to weight is too much in the ST. Both can be re-mapped to similar figures, so I'd assume the ST would sti

  • I cant believe we have badge snobbery from people who drive Skodas lol   Went to look at an ST2 this week, was very nice just not big enough for me

At that price i am assuming it will be a mk2 - watch out for rust, rust, rust and a bit more rust. Make sure it hasn't had dodgy sill repairs that will rust again in fairly short time.

We have a mk1 eunos 1.8 as a bit of a summer car and its great fun on the right road. A bit uncomfortable as a daily driver though.

MX5's are great, average power but very low weight and a great chassis make for one of them best budget driving experiences out there.

A couple of friends who are petrolheads and have run considerably quicker cars both have newish 2.0's and rave about them.....one of them does have the BBR Cosworth conversion though so that one isnt exactly slow either!

Surely the term "hairdressers car" refers to something that looks good/quick but is slow/crap to drive? The Fiesta and MX-5 don't come close to matching those criteria on more than one level. I'm after a Boxster, so I guess I'd better get my crimpers out....;)

Problem with convertibles is the only people who can pull off not looking like a tool is women.  :giggle:

Unless you're in a Griffith, Chimaera or, arguably, an SL55 / 63 AMG ?
