They are basically thinking of allowing a spec Similar to Mountune stage 2.

So less power than mine, no LSD and smaller brakes.

 

It's just a bit of media attention to keep the car interesting as it'd due for replacement in a year or two.

The body styling looks pretty good though

The drift button seems an interesting idea as well. It is supposed to be a great drive, by all accounts, so it'll be interesting to hear what you think after you've picked it up.

Picked up the RS today.

 

 

Obviously I am in the honeymoon period, but I'd like to think I've done a reasonable amount of test drives and owned enough to give me a decent feeling for a car.

 

The ride is a bit firm, as you'd expect on an RS.

But it's not shocking, just a little stiffer than the Fiesta ST.

The RS also feels a little on the heavy side when pottering about normally.

 

But when you start to see what it can do it really comes alive.

In Sport mode the throttle sensitivity and the way the car feels is just better, so I spent most of the 250 miles today in that.

The way it drives is great, push on a little and the rear starts to come into play in the corners.

Ford have done a cracking job on the four wheel drive system, feels so much better than any Haldex/VW group car I've driven including the Golf R, S3 and RS3.

You can get the rear end twitching in Sport mode if you are a bit enthusiastic too, which made me laugh on the fourth roundabout after leaving the dealership.

 

Also had a giggle at the exhaust noises, if you blip the throttle and get over 3,500rpm when changing gear you get a pop from the exhaust, drive it with the revs higher and you get a few pops and the odd bang too.

Plus you can get one when changing up if going for it.

Simple thing, but make it fun.  I pend the last 50 miles of my drive on twisting A and B roads going up and down the gears making lots of noises and just had a big grin in my face.

The handling came alive too on the more twisty stuff and it was just a great place to be.

 

I got the normal seats as it's a family car, so have the normal RS Recaros that adjust for height and base cushion angle.

Handy as I am tall with long legs, the optional buckets only move backwards and forwards.

Other than the seats I pretty much added everything else.

 

Car looks great in Blue, better than in the pictures to be honest as the blue is metallic which doesn't show up well in a photo.

Plus as I went for the blue I also got the blue trimmed seats which match, plus the stitching inside is blue and so are parts of the dials, which ties it all together nicely and hides the stock Focus interior quite well.

 

 

Looking forward to using it more, averaged 27mpg on the way home according to the display but am already down to just under a quarter of a tank judging by the dial.

Will have to see how much it takes.

 

So there you go.

I have to recommend a drive in a Focus RS if you like fun cars because press on and it's great.

Shame the waiting list is so long, but it's become a victim of it's popularity already.

 

 

If I had to sum up my drive today one word it would be:  Hilarious.

 

A great car, that takes the fun element of the Fiesta ST and throws in more grip, power, fun and an extra 2 doors.   (not to mention pops and bangs)

Liking that Richard, I bet your tuned Fiesta isnt a great deal slower though is it?

The cornflower blue really suits it I think, great with the matching interior accents and black wheels.

As much as I like the new Mclaren, this I love. You can't beat a fast ford! Colour looks great in the photos too. Those seats look awesome.

Arguable the RS was more fun on the way back from the dealership too.

It's not "too fast for the road".

Nice looking, great colour, similar to the jag blue that's used on some of the r models

Yes, I would naturally have high expectations for the Mclaren just because of what it is, but I love the fact ford can do that to a "Focus"! Lol

It does look gorgeous in that blue. I especially like the details on the seats as well. Seen a couple of the road already and each time was looking for the FOX plate LOL.

Saw one in Peterborough today in that blue...I made some funny noises and the person I was with just said ffs it's just a car. I just looked at them with a death stare.

Nice write up. Expected it to be more rear biased which is great. Haven't driven a Golf R yet but I'm guessing it's setup for understeer. Drove an old S3 and it was awful. It understeered badly just like an average FWD car so you'd lift off to adjust so it almost seemed pointless it having 4WD. I want a 4WD that can power through a corner and it sounds like Ford have done that. I like the RS from the front and rear but not too sure of it side on. Love the colour and the seats though.

Never new there was a new Focus RS out... 4wd as well! Very nice.

Are they only building limited numbers again?
