Richard's Ford Fiesta ST and Focus RS

Featured Replies

So the video finally uploaded... :D

George (GFWC) and myself messing about, some mk7 Fiesta ST MP215 -vrs- mk6 Fiesta ST MR200 at 5:00 too. :)

Good vid. The ST looks like so much fun on track! Have to say though, really surprised how the ST150 was staying ahead - with your mid range you should have started reeling him in, no?

Edit - just read your comment about ST200 - what's one of them?! (Off for a Google!...)

  • Picked up the RS today.     Obviously I am in the honeymoon period, but I'd like to think I've done a reasonable amount of test drives and owned enough to give me a decent feeling for a car.

  • Had the Fiesta ST back for a couple of days now, since it's turbo kit was installed.     Kit consisted of: Peron V1 Superstock hybrid turbocharger, (spool from 1200rpm, peak torque at 2500rpm a

  • As many will know, the ST-3 was sold at 18 months old with 11,000 miles on the clock.     Fast forward a few months....   I went looking for another. Even with my fleet discount a new ST-3 was mor

Seriously upgraded mk6 ST with the Mountune 200bhp kit.

I don't believe it had stock suspension, brakes or wheels either... :D  and that's just the bits I could see.

It looked good though, really nice in the corners.

It was the guy in that car from the ST forum that asked if anyone else wanted to go.

With the Martini stickers and numbers on the doors I guessed it wasn't stock. ;)

Google has failed me and I'm totally intrigued now. I'm very familiar with the mk5 and mk6 Fiestas. Regularly put my little TDCi against a friends ST150 and was only when she had the 185 upgrade that she could pull away from me at higher speeds. The 200 must be cams as well as intake and exhaust...I'm guessing. As you say, it looks very capable, sits well in the corners but really seems to have some mid range too and gets the power down out the bends.

They stopped doing the MR200 upgrade BTW, it's no longer available.

So are you tempted to throw some cash into the Fiesta?

only produced 75 kits according to google but can't find how it differs to the 185. Oh well, thanks for sharing anyway, great vid. :)

No, there is no point.

It does what it does very well.

Enough power for fun and so you can drive it flat out often.

Making it more capable would only make you able to use it flat out less.

And potentially compromise it's great handling.

...BUT... If you were to do one thing to make the biggest improvement... What would it be?

(I think a limited slip diff would make a noticeable improvement on track)

No point upgrading the power beyond MP215.

I have MeisterR coilovers, DS2500 front pads and an LSD.  All done since the last HowFast so I could get a completely stock time.

The rest of it is stock.

For me, that's a slight tweak.

It has an electronic one already I think.

ah, didnt realise it had had some mods! Sorry for not keeping up Sir!

incomparable to something like a Quaife though IMO. :)

Looked like one of the fiesta championship cars from the race series. Looked like a brilliant day and epitomises what a track day is all about. Pushing your car and having a great time. Both of your laughter really made that video

Have a 64 plate Ford Fiesta 1.2 zetec as a courtesy car, and even from that I can see why you enjoy the Fiesta ST, even the 1.2 is a well specced decent car to drive.

So the ST has been in for it's first year service as I've had it a year.

Fixed price of £199.

Drove it to the garage.  Loved it.  Felt like a rocket ship after the Citroen C3 Picasso we had on holiday.

Then realised that since I've had it I've got into the habit of rev matching on downshifts when not braking and heel and toe when I am.

Something I now tend to do in every car I drive.

This car has really made me love driving a manual, even though I've always prefered them to autos/DSGs.

Anyway, that's my thoughts for now...  One year on.  Over 9,000 miles.  No way would I part with it, despite them being a bit common it's just so much fun! :)

And here is another pic.  Think I've got used to the looks because I like those now.  Sure I got the right colour too.

Does look good, the only thing that puts me off them a little, is the finish and feel of the plastics, I'm sure I could live with that though.. oh, and the car looks great as well..

I do exactly the same now. WIth the M it rewards you for doing it right and it's something I do with every manual I drive now. It's just satisfying.

Why is it only possible to like something once...

I'd get used to liking the outside too as it always seems to have them attached :)

Why particularly? The only plastics I make regular contact with are the steering wheel, gear kn08, stalks, seat belt catches and door pulls. Of those, the wheel has a grain leather glove and everything else (Skoda) except the door pulls are the same in an Audi (check actual parts).

I don't think knob is censored so you can just use that

No, definitely not censored

Cheers Toxic will do.. Ken, has Ford been taken over by the VAG when I was asleep?... and what about the knobs that you touch?

No, but I'm not sure what your point is?

Mine is that you don't necessarily interact with all the controls every trip (it may be months before I next use the headlight switch for example. Over the Winter it can be months before I use it more than beginning and end of a trip), and there's more commonality than you might expect. Incidentally, I think you'll find that a VW Sharan, Seat Alhambra and Ford Galaxie use the same stalks, because they're the same car!

It used to be, and you were a member back when it was Brimma.
