Probably shouldn't have let it go.

 

But I'm going to turn the power up a bit more on this one.

With the amazing ST handling, better brakes and around 25% more power over the Mountune upgrade it should be a great little package.

 

As good as the Mountune 215bhp upgrade is, if I am doing it again and starting with an older car I might as well give the lower powered of the two Peron turbo kits a go.

285bhp is probably enough, the V2 is around 330bhp or so and if the stock engine can take that it should manage the 285bhp fine.

 

They are surprisingly well priced as a package and the turbo spool on the V1 is slightly better than OEM...

Starting with a stock car the whole package with fitting and VAT is under £3,000.

Intake, intercooler, turbo, downpipe, sports cat, exhaust and mapping.

I would have another ST in a heatbeat but then again I want something bigger for my next car - Maybe an A6 Avant.

That is quite a big size jump!

All coming together nicely.

 

Picking the car up tomorrow and driving it home.

First week of January booked in for the LSD and to get hte big brake kit fitted.

Second week of January it's booked in the the Peron superstock (V1) stage 3 upgrade for great daily drivability and track day punch.

 

Got in touch with MeisterR, I ran their coilovers on my last Fiesta ST, and they are bring out a second better kit very shortly to GT1 spec.

This is the same kit I have fitted to my R32 GT-R and it's a brilliant set up.  More comfort on the road and great body control on the track with 32 stage damping adjustment.

Kits arrive any day and they are going to fit me a set themselves in their workshop where they can corner weight the car and check suspension movement etc with the GT1 on.

 

So by mid January we should a very capable and fun little pocket rocket.

Will it be coming to brands?

Really must admit Ford have it bang on with this Fiesta the handling in standard form is awesome and such a responsive little car for its size(engine) and budget.

If Ford hadn't messed me around and caused me so much agro I would probably still have it now.

Measured for the coilovers over the Christmas break, they arrive in two weeks.

LSD fitted today.

Peron Superstock turbo kit goes on Mon-Wed next week.

PB Brakes 304mm 6 pots ordered.

Hopefully will all be done for Brands Hatch on the 1st Feb.

It's going to fly around the track lol.

Had the Fiesta ST back for a couple of days now, since it's turbo kit was installed.

 

 

Kit consisted of:

Peron V1 Superstock hybrid turbocharger, (spool from 1200rpm, peak torque at 2500rpm and power all the way to 7000rpm)

Peron P2xx hybrid calibration with RPM limit raised to 7300rpm,

Peron superstock intercooler,

Peron superstock 127mm sports catalyst for emission compliance,

ITG Maxogen CAIS system,

ITG/Peron crossover inlet pipe,

Turbosmart iwg-75 wastegate actuator,

Turbosmart shortie kompact plumb back recirc BOV,

TK Performance uprated boost clamps,

New OEM spark plugs,

Oil and Filter change,

 

Power is quoted at 240whp, 280bhp at the flywheel with great spool and torque around 285lb/ft.

 

 

TK first sorted my running issue with a few new things including a fuel pump.

Then set about fitting the Peron kit and doing a service.

 

Having now driven it over 100 miles I can confirm it really does go well.

I have been fortunate to drive some pretty fast cars, and once rolling the ST is decidedly nippy.

But then with around 280-285 bhp and lb/ft it's not going to hang around as a small light car.

 

It picks up boost really well.  Feeling OEM, or slightly better.  And it pulls hard from fairly low down in the rev range too.

You don't need to keep swapping gears to keep it on the boil as it goes well from around 2,000-2,500rpm all the way to a bit over 7,000rpm.

 

I am running no fancy badges, the intercooler lettering has been painted over and I have also retained the OEM exhaust to keep it looking and sounding as close to OEM as I can.

So it looks and sounds like a stock ST, until you open it up and get some extra turbo noises or the BOV kicks in.

 

 

Overall I have to say I am very happy with the package.

It's not completely perfect, but it's very good and decent value for money IMO.

 

The only thing that spoils it a little for me, as a lover of OEM+ is that the turbo housing being modified does change the harmonics.

Which leads to some additional turbo spooling noises on part throttle.  So it's not as quiet as I'd like in daily pottering about.

Some people will probably like this, particularly teamed with an aftermarket exhaust, but it's not my sort of thing really in a Fiesta that hides a 280bhp capability.

It appears there is an optional full recirc that mounts the BOV remotely and this removes the noise, for people like me that are fussy.

In which case I can't see any downsides to this kit.  Awesome and stealthy!

 

Just got to upgrade the brakes now, which should be here next week from PB brakes in Taiwan. (as used on my 500bhp Yeti for two years of track days)

Hopefully about the same time MeisterR finish my GTC1 improved coilover kit they are building.

I am already running a Quaife LSD fitted by SCC in St Albans.

That's not happening!

So I got in touch with Dan at PB brakes and he has done me the same kit as the Yeti has (that's well tested on a heavier car with far more power) with 6 pots and slightly smaller 304mm discs instead of 330mm so not so obvious and still more than enough stopping power.

He's also sent me the same pads as the Yeti uses.

They arrived today and he's done a good job matching the OEM caliper colour too.

Not too big, same colour, OEM rims without spacers and serious stopping power.

All boxes ticked.

It came with a full front Brembo BBK.

Like on the Fabia it needs after market wheels and/or 15mm spacers.

That's not happening!
