Question for 1.6 TDi/1.2 TSi ownerd

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

Daft question but wondering if any of you with 1.6 TDi/1.2 TSi hatch or estates could check your hidden exhaust outlet and see whether it has a single or twin pipe?

Now there is no engine tech badging on these cars and little or no way to tell them apart just wondering if perhaps the exhaust outlet might be different on the lower powered TDi/TSi models.....probably not though!

All petrols have an single tailpipe each side while diesels have twin tailpipes on the left.

1.2 TSI is a single pipe.

1.2 TSI is a single pipe.

I stand corrected.

Cheers guys thinking this is one of the only ways outside of a regular car to tell whether its a 1.2/1.6 or more powerful 1.4/2.0.

Be interested to see if the 1.6 TDi is a single and 1.4 TSi a dual.

Mine is 1.6tdi and has a single tailpipe.

Cheers all sounds a bit like how it was with the Mk2's they just chose to hide and downsweep the tailpipes on the O3 for some reason....not entirely sure why they bothered to be honest

1.4 TSI twin outlets out of a single box on the left side of the car.

My 1.6TDI DSG Hatch has a single pipe. Had to crawl under the car to see it as it isn't visable from the rear.

Thank you guys have confirmed my thoughts

Other than the vRS you can't tell one from another on the road, very sleeperish.

Indeed thats one thing I like about my old smogger. Had a few people giving me the WTF type look when tailgating etc; its not a rocketship granted but quite impressive all the same

? rocketship, Fit a tuning box & a pedal box and then see

Go up behind a vrs at night with your head lights on and spot the blank exhaust pipe!!

Me thinks the back end looks tidy with no pipe on show.
