Personally what I would do with the main grille is either colour code the chrome surround or maybe even paint it a satin black.

With regards to the main grill - is there any way of keeping the chrome surround and switching the plastic bit for meshed grill?

I'm sure there is a piccy of a red Octavia with colour coded grill surround and mesh insert somewhere on here

IIRC it started chrome then tried black and finished red!!! I can't for the life of me remember who it was though :confused:

Think the bottom ones look great and yeah, if I was in your shoes, I'd look to just put some black mesh into the standard grille

what did you do about getting rid of the arch in the "blades" of the grill... doesnt it show?

I reckon you should keep the slated grille and just paint the chrome surround black. I know it's a totally different car but you get the idea:
