Yayyyy good old Skoda UK

Recommended Posts

I'm happy for a change!

I took my car in to Skoda last regarding a tiny tiny tiny rust spot developing on the bootlid and they are going to either respray the boot or replace the whole bootlid and respray it...

Now time to see if they'll spray my spoiler at the same time as the lacquer is just starting to go.. Wish me luck!

Could you tell me which dealer you went to please? I went to Benfield at the back end of last year and got royally fobbed of by the lazy fat slug on the service desk, rang up and made an appointment to see "body man" went through sat around for an hour only to be told that they wouldnt entertain a claim because they reckoned the paint on my back arches had been rubbed off by the back bumper!

It's Gary at Silbury Skoda (Cramlington) who I have been dealing with, he's been brilliant! I would definatley give them a call if I were you.

Whenever I hear Cramlington I can't help but think of Buzzcocks lol.

I've just noticed today that my seat rail on drivers side is rusting pretty bad. Not even sure how that happens

Just got my VRS back the other week, Specialist cars in Aberdeen, the Skoda dealers, resprayed both my back quarter panels because of the bumper rubbing the arches  like you mentioned, mine was badly blistered, they also resprayed both sills and replaced and sprayed the boot lid too. All done free of charge under the Skoda warranty.

One in Sheffield were the most uninterested people when I asked about mine. Took pics etc and never even bothered to tell me the result, which I expect was a no, if they even submitted it.

Was the bloke on the service desk though. The one on parts is a top bloke!

Saw a rust bubble on my boot after that visit but didn't see point in going back to be treated like crap. Only cared about old ens who make his job easy.

Out of interest what is the paint covered by warranty?

If your paint is blistering and it has not been caused by a stone chip etc, then it is covered by the 10 year anti corrosion warranty, mine was blistered where the back bumper meets the wheel arch due to rubbing and water getting in, both sills were blistered and the bottom of the tailgate which they replaced with a new one. ALL F.O.C

Oh this is worth bearing in mind. My sills are bubbling and there are a few spots just above the rear lights and a bleb or two on the boot lid. Can't complain if it's free! I'm assuming you don't have to be the original owner to claim this? It's just a standard 10 year warranty?

Standard 10 years mate so go to your dearest dealer and claim !

[emoji593][emoji125] right you are! too the Fabia! ( but I think I will opt for the nearest dealer as opposed to the dearest one, not that it matters since its warranty work [emoji6])

Just to update this one. The car went in to a local repair shop (who are reputed as being very good and very expensive!), I was given a Skoda citigo as a courtesy car... I ring the garage today and they tell me they've ordered a whole new bootlid and badges etc.

I also love the little citigo, it just has character :D

So I guess this goes down as a 'WIN'

hi

its good to hear of praise to Skoda and a dealer in particular

just a question does the car concerned need a full skoda service history to qualify, on the grounds '' oh as we haven't seen the car recently we haven't be able to advise you that the paint work needed remedial attention ''

or words to that effect ?

Nope, I didn't even buy the car from them.

They literally took my name and number, mileage of the car and registration plate. The ball started rolling from there :)

Well I popped into Silbury Skoda last Saturday and Gary took some photos of the affected areas on my car, said he would send them to Skoda uk on Monday and I should hear something back by Thursday or Friday this week.Well true to his word Gary rang Thursday but unfortunately for me it was bad news....Skoda uk think that since I have "touched in" the rusty bits myself I cannot make a claim under the 10 year anti corrosion warranty, this all stems from my il fated visit to Benfield motors last year when I was fobbed off big time and told I had no chance of making a warranty claim even though the car has it's original paint and a complete Skoda service history! Big thanks to Gary at Silbury who was extremely helpful, just wish I had gone there last year instead of Benfield...
