Ey Furby, that's great.

I know someone that's got the estate version of one of them, and it's been re-mapped AND got a tuning box on it too!

Goes like the proverbial but with ace mpg too.

Good choice my man.

Oh spill?

Spill what exactly?

It's sold and I'm ridiculously sad about it, that's all.

Had it seven years tomorrow too. Bought it from someone in here from Birmingham, but can't remember his name now unfortunately.

Just like to thank him for letting me own it anyway.

You will NOT want to be near or hear me on Sunday morning, believe me.

As per under my user name....Mk1 vRS Fab., as was 'spotted' the other night with lovely comment too for the very first time.

I'm thinking of placing a seat with a brass plaque on it where I've been regularly parking it whilst scampering up Moel Fammau for the past 7 years too!  :D

Gutted for you Mr R :(

I am having visions of Sunday already.

Just before the tyres start spinning and it vanishes into the smoke forever :o

Stop it, or you'll have a grown insane nutter blubbering.

I'm already gettting loads of 'verbals' about my sadness from the Ree collective.

if I hear.... " but it's only a piece of metal".... just ONE MORE TIME!!!  :@

Anyway, I shall be going up my favourite hill on Sunday on my own to sulk and to feel extremely sorry for myself.

never mind this crap anyway. More about YOURS please.

Emmmmm its blue!

After my frustrating trip to my GP I got in home sat down ranted on here then opened a fresh tab and went shopping for the rest of the day scaring. I found a fairly nice Mk1 Fabia vRS I like in Black Magic but alas it was sold. I was also looking at the one I am buying and decided best call about the Fabia first as it is the more sensible option, but as it was sold SOD IT. Went and spent about 2 hours going over / under and around it. Guy is gutted to be selling "Angry wife forces sale" type of job... It has had a fairly easy life for a 5 series of its age. Has 1 scratch that has been touched up but not overly noticeable and a little mark on front bumper like someone just touched a bollard but again very hard to see and guy was gutted he hadnt noticed it (he had told me of scratch). That aside bodywork wise its good but wants a proper polish! Wheels are nice IMO by design, as there are some really horrid ones on 5 series SE's out there, depending how I get on with the car I may replace or have them refurbed at some point in the future.

Inside nice all like new, everything works and idrive is my type of gadgety thing.

Mechanically, seems top dog, brake pads front have 75% left rear 50% and by time they need changed I will just do the discs too personally as they would not definitely make it through another new set of pads after that. Has a space saver which is a good thing as I hate run flats. As above, just serviced and book stamped at an indy all previous at BMW specialist and main dealers. 4 new tyres sub 300 miles on them. Has 2 remote keys.

I love buying new cars and am thoroughly excited to get this one as with any. If it was a Lada Riva I would be just as excited that said!

I am interested also as a sort of social experiment to see how other road users react to and generally act around it on the road with the generalised stereotype of BMW's. I have owned BMW before but not for about 17 cars ago. I bought 2 others since both fell through one as car catastrophically died in dealers and another E39 in London the old owner the night before I was going to collect it, decided to have one last go an wrote it off.......  :wonder:

Should have a few pics of it over weekend.  :sun:

I do like that shape/mark of BMW 5 Series - actually prefer it to the current. Good choice. Pics?

I have a thinking with BMW's where i generally am not overly keen on the current one when they come out every time and I then looking at latest suddenly LIKE the previous one. This is the case here again :(

I don't have any more pics as of yet as I do not collect it until tomorrow :( But you can be sure I will have some :D

No, just fill it up with cash by the looks of it. :D

They are an interesting shape, I thought they were ugly at first but then when you see the shape everywhere they get familar and acceptable.

The amount of diesel it will guzzle will be like throwing 50's into the tank I would imagine :o But I have a good long run home and a long run (long in terms of over here) on Monday so should get an idea what she is like on it.

The whole marmite coming around to shape of BMW's has always amazed me, good that it's not just me!

Good as I was about to say that is done by a lot of people running 518s etc that without slight knowledge aren't identifiable and therefore make it look like the car is a higher model in 5 Series which encourages people to get a lot closer behind :P

Yea, I can't be bothered with people playing or wanting to play games on the road with me. Just want it looking nice and be left alone to drive and enjoy my own car in peace.

Model for model, I generally prefer the way bmw try to design their cars compared to the dull Audi styling for example. That's why I chose a 1 Series over anything else in class. The new 3 Series is an absolute stunner as well. I might be going mad, but I have a bit of a thing for the x4 as well!

This has been a good thread to read, Nice looking car, prefer the look of the estate but to be honest I'm old before my time, ford focus diesel estate at 22 then a x trail at 24, Like the M sport version of that shape as well.

The reason it feels newer than your actual new Octy is because

it's a far better car. It's just frowned upon to say things like that

(ie The truth) on this forum. I mean, how can anything possibly

be better than a Skoda offering???  I've already burned my bridges

so I don't care if I get flamed for saying it, deep down the rose

tinted specs brigade know I'm right too. That must sting a bit. :D

They'll be on here in a minute blathering on about boot space

and whatnot to justify what they have chosen but the FACT is

the BMW 530D is a much better car than ANY standard Octavia

you put it next to. Even the (apparent) best car in the world the

Mark 3 is in the shade in comparison.

Nice choice Fubar, brace yourself for the 'has it got the optional

indicators fitted' and other such crap. At least it will take the heat

off the Audi drivers for a bit :p

Nobody would believe an Octavia is actually a better car than a 5 Series.

Would they?
