I think the headlamp washers need plastidipping now.....

....And I've also just tried some of this http://www.flyeyeskit.co.uk/ on the rear lights

It's flexible plastic mesh that just sticks over the lights.  Apparently legal, and I'm sure not everyone's cup of tea....but here we are so far...

You need to paint the inserts of the headlamps black too, it'll be a proper Batmobile then! :)

Liking the Eyebrows

So all the black is done now, when you doing the Gold highlights :giggle:  :giggle:

Is that an R35 GTR in the garage behind?
  • 1 month later...

Great looking motor you have there. :)

I don't suppose you have the eBay seller for the steering wheel badge do you? I tried putting what you said into eBay but it comes up with no results so wanted to try searching for the seller instead etc....

Cheers

Dave.

Wow car looks great.

Sent from my Galaxy S5

Not normally a fan of black on black cars but I must say this is very nice. Great work!

I have a question about your engine. I assume it is the V6 3.6 that is fitted to the R36?    Is this a VR as in the 2.8/3.2 in the MK4 or is it a true "V" ?

I am thinking about the next stage for my Golf and the R36 engine might be the way forward if it is a VR

The Passat R36 and Superb 3.6 both have the same engine using FSI

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VR6_engine

" a flagship 3.6-litre 191 kW (260 PS; 256 bhp) FSI VR6 engine (a detuned version of that fitted in the Passat R36) complete with4motion four-wheel drive and six-speed Direct-Shift Gearbox (DSG)."

This should clear it up, I think it is a VR type?

It looks very similar, if I can find one that is not needed, should make for an interesting turbo project.     Thanks

Yup, both engines are narrow angle V6's, (15 degree Vee, compared with 60 degree Vee in most V6 engines),  effectively siamesed bores, at 15 degree angle in one block & one cylinder head, with two faces, again at 15 degrees.

DC.

I am sure the top of the block and bottom of the head are flat surfaces but the bores are at 15' V

I sit corrected....... The combustion chambers must be wedge-shaped?

It's not really a Vee engine at all, probably the same firing order as a straight six, but possibly with staggered crank-pins on the crank-shaft?

I quite fancied a V6, but couldn't find a decent one when searching for an EOS. Gave-up in the end & bought a 2.0 Tsi instead, 250 bhp & 284 ft.lbs after a remap is

similar to the 3.2 VR6.

If I could have found a 3.6 for sale, I might have thought differently.............

Yes I think it has wedge shaped chambers, quite a strange engine really, very compact though for a six cylinder. I also feel its days are numbered, modern turbo four cylinders are as powerful and more economical not to mention environmental advantages.

Looking good. Have you thought about having the headlight washers sprayed black or wrapped etc... rather than chrome?
