Funny world, isn't it?   Mine is now 4 years old and I am getting around to considering it's replacement. I've looked at the "competition" but they are all either too big, too coupe like in the back

The build quality is what I was interested in and the Yeti 1 sits at 3rd, and behind 2 Audi's, is excellent. I assume the Yeti F/L should be considered 1.

Think this probably outscores the Express for bad journalism.

What about the Mail?

It's far worse than the Mail (though both have a divisive agenda), and hence neither are worth a penny of my hard earned.

Please don't tell that to the motoring correspondents though, at least not without warning the local A&E dept first!

First let me say I'm still well pleased with my 3rd Yeti and have no desire at present to change it.

The Star report  in my eyes was absolute rubbish, especially some of the performance issues he raised.(Yes I have owned a 1.2 )

But I do have to agree with him regarding prices escalating,

I bought my Yeti's because they ticked all the boxes I required and were very well priced .

Now Skoda seem to be setting their prices to compare with higher mark cars and are not so much of a bargain in my eyes.

But I guess if you have a successful product you can ask what you want.

But I do have to agree with him regarding prices escalating,

Not quite sure what's happening here. I do wonder if SUK are inflating list prices and then allowing higher discounts. I was looking at this:

http://tiny.cc/e9nlfx

which is showing an 18% discount on a Yeti. Not sure it's one of the more reliable brokers or if there are some catches like a finance tie-in (but not obviously so at a glance), but a straw in the wind.

Edit: Just to be clear, I'm not trying to promote this broker in the slightest - I know nothing about them, just happened across them on a web search. And the site does seem to have a tang of WBAC about it, which obviously doesn't have the best reputation, though the name is distinct. Also, the discounts here do seem to be somewhat higher than some of the more reputable brokers like Carfile and DTD, though not hugely so. It could be genuine.

I actually found the Star one quite funny - it's so ridiculously overblown. My suspicion is that an FWD Yeti is still more capable offroad than the vast majority of people who buy it need - me included.

Interesting comments from forum members, Yeti owners and others. (Oops, hope that don't sound bad).

I've been driving 50+ years and owned a lot of cars. The most of a single make was 7 Volvos & 8 land Rovers (not all at once), plus 20+ other odds & s***.

My last was a Land Rover, I came away from them as it had so many faults and dealer failed to fix them all.

Liked the look of the Yeti for years & tried a couple. As soon as funds allowed, I bought one. All be it a used/showroom model.

The package was not everything I would have liked but, it suits me and to hell what others think.

The test drives that have links on this site/subject I would not normally have seen or read, and I don't give a toss what others say - I'm happy with my Yeti.

Point I find strange is why did Skoda give/loan newspapers/mags 1.2 engine sized cars to test?

Bottom line for me is, I drive what I want to. If it's an old model, at least all the parts have been well tested and any major faults sorted.

Have to agree the Star review is completely off the mark except for pricing. My criticism of the 1.2 was efficiency (fuel and emissions) not performance. As I have stated in several other posts it is a fantastic engine. Coming from 160+bhp diesels because I do not do the mileage I was amazed at the performance. Even with 5 blokes (400 odd kgs) it went up quite steep inclines and hills no problem even at 70mph.

          ...my thoughts exactly and the best thing I have read on this forum.
