Funny world, isn't it?   Mine is now 4 years old and I am getting around to considering it's replacement. I've looked at the "competition" but they are all either too big, too coupe like in the back

Poor journalism from the 'Express. What's new?

I couldn't even be bothered to read the article if it's that poorly written...

Shallow tosh. Haven't read the express since "will it fit your garage" days. Reassuring to know I haven't been missing out.

The Yeti is an Eastern European immigrant so it's no wonder the Express don't like it.

Newspaper reports on cars are purely down to the individual reporter whether they like the brand or not.  These are a complete waste time as the only real worthwhile ones are by the people who actually drive them daily.

Wow, reading that made my head hurt. Very poorly written article.

Well I pretty much agree with all that's said in the road test. Where did he say all Outdoors are 4X4? he said the one he was driving was 4X4. Most of you arguing don't even drive 1.2's. He's right about poor economy. Me and plenty of others get about 36mpg which cannot in any terms be classed as good. The standard spec in the Yetis is shockingly poor. Apart from that mentioned in the article, no Bluetooth, handsfree etc. etc. in base models. To get a half decent level of spec you are spending way over £20,000. Don't get me wrong, overall I think my car is fine, nothing special, but it is way behind the competition now, engine wise and standard spec wise.

How did the express get hold of a 1.2 4x4? I'm afraid those who choose to buy a newspaper may unintentionally categorise themselves-Buy the express and what do you expect?

As it IS a 1.2 he is testing this is where he says Outdoors are 4x4

"One of the biggest alterations has been the split in the line-up between the standard car and THIS Outdoor, 4x4, version."

"Yes, these perhaps should be better given the breadth of the competition (including the excellent new Nissan Qashqai), but the figures are victims of a small engine in what is not a small car, plus that four-wheel drive."

I didn't think that Skoda sell a 1.2 4x4. If I'm right the hack doesn't even know what car he was driving. Typical express....

If he's driving a UK spec 1.2  it does not come in 4 wheel drive (don't know if 4x4 is available outside the UK), but I stand by my comments that the actual assessment of the car was IMO quite fair and accurate.

There's nothing wrong with the engine, I think it's more to do with the Yeti's shed-like aerodynamics, guess that's the price you pay for the more individual styling.

50MPG is easily achievable with this engine in the Rapid.

I couldn't even be bothered to read the article if it's that poly written...

Bloody clever parrot

Wait - they do car reviews in the Express? Next you'll be telling me they do actual, proper news. I thought it was just Diana, Maddy, Immigrants, House Prices, Pensions, Benefits Scroungers, Freak Weather and 5p a day Miracle Back Pain, Arthritis, Blood Pressure, Azheimers, Alzheimers and Cancer Pill Breakthroughs and Alzheimers. Oh and adverts for comfortable elasticated beige trousers.

Today it's a four-in-one "Superpill"...

But you forgot EU scare stories, stuff like "NOW EU BANS CHRISTMAS/CRICKET/BREATHING" e.t.c.

Oh that DAMNED EU. Makes me SO angry. I'm voting UKIP.

Unfortunately some of what is said is correct. I loved my  12 month old Yeti but after 2 months of the Qashqai I can honestly say it is in a different league of motoring. 1.2 engine so much quicker off the mark and also quieter, ride even on 19 inch wheels super smooth over all surfaces and the interior quality up with the top German marques. I loved the quirkiness of the Yeti but after 2000 Qashqai miles any regrets? absolutely not. The QQ is a modern car and has everything you would want in a 2014 model, I may return to the Yeti eventually, but it will be when the real modern car is released, sadly now it is a four year old dated model and feels like it

As human beings, we are endowed with freedom of choice, and we cannot shuffle off our responsibility upon the shoulders of others. We must shoulder it ourselves. It is our responsibility. Also I can spell Skoda Yeti.

I drove my S.I.L cashcow -  Inside cabin was sooo close to driver & passenger, seats were like sitting on soft sofa's ( not good for back on long drives), suspension was so soft & wallowy  you didnt feel the speed bumps where she lives, but going round too many corners in succession quickly would have made me seasick, however she loved it.

The FL Yeti when it arrives will be just as toy filled as i need. :).

Nice little write up in Metro Wheels this morning!

Time moves on.

The Yeti was a great car and ahead of it's rivals.

Now it's five years old and the rivals are newer and more modern.

I really didn't like the previous Qashqai, but the new model just released is in a different league.

Kit and interior better than the Yeti if I am honest.

I still prefer the look of the (classic/bug eye) Yeti so I am keeping mine.

I can't see it's worth trading in and spending £10,000 on top for the upgrade to a car four/five years more modern but that does the same job.

Skoda OR Nissan.

This and other reviews are like tennis, so ping on when built and how old...

I shoot Browning guns manufactured in the 1980's because they have far better build quality than those of today.

I drive an 1998 Audi (currently at 145K miles) because it has far superior build quality than those built today.

and so on and so on.....new balls please
