Fuel filter change?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of any guides to changing the fuel filter for the roomster. I have tried searching but there doesn't seem to be much info for this engine (1.6tdi cr). Is it as simple as disconnecting the two hoses, swapping the filter over and reconnecting the hoses? Do you need to fill the new filter with diesel?

Thanks in advance.

Pretty much same story on most diesel Skoda's.

If you don't fill fuel filter with diesel, (I don't bother), replace filter and re-connect pipes.

Then just crank engine over until it starts, doesn't take long.

It is as straight forward as that. I read a guide on line and it suggests filling the new fuel filter with diesel from the old filter passed through one of the disposable paper filters you can buy for coffee perculators.

This saves the need for cranking the engine for too long as the filter is already primed.

Thanks for the replies. I'll give this a go soon.

Not sure if it's the same as my 1.4tdi, but if so it took about 5 minutes.

Simply remove the clips holding on the 2 pipes and removing the pipes. There are 3 clips around the filter that need releasing and then it will just slide out.

Once you have installed the new 1. Switch on the ignition 4-5 times without trying to start so the pump fills the filter again. Then start up and your done

Thanks

It is important not to let the high pressure fuel pump on the common rail engine to run dry even for a short time, the above method of switching the key on and off  does prime the system for you, if you have vcds it is possible to run the low pressure pump in the tank for 30 seconds which is the best method.
