Shark remap not right?

Featured Replies

What's the OEM BT?

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer

BT = BlueTooth

Basically the car in question has been retrofitted with the same kit that could have come from the factory, had the original owner specified it.

To be fair it is quite understandable (and probably advisable) for him to try to ensure he knows as much as possible what he is talking about before going back to the garage and/or shark.

If he finds out it's normal then he doesn't make a fool of himself by asking why he hasn't got 300bhp. If it isn't normal then he knows that ad can't be fobbed off. Knowledge is power and all that.

Agreed, however, there was already an air of suspicion this would happen before the map was done.....

There does seem to be an expectation of Stage 2 figures on a Stage 1 remap. (http://www.sharkperformance.co.uk/mapdetail?Skoda-Octavia-II-FL-2009--2.0-TFSI-RS-200bhp) Personally I would expect a 240bhp remap to get about 240bhp, especially as, the engines, dispite expecations, are all a little different. A little bit more would be a bonus. An extra 10% would be worrying as the system will be well in excess of what Shark would be expecting and possibly an indicator that something is wrong. It's also possible that 262bhp was as a result of a custom remap done at Shark HQ.

There are lots of dodgy characters out there - not just in the vehicle world, so suspicion is perhaps justified. However Shark is definitely not one of them. They would be my first call if I had a problem with anything they supplied.

In this cynical world its hard to be trusting, but sometimes - perhaps more often than we think when you also inhabit the web - trust is justified.

The thing that concerns me is that at some point in the future, will someone trawl the net and find that topic heading, and without a thought or a read, extrapolate that Shark maps have a problem?

Perhaps now the truth is available, the topic should be renamed?

It's good to get feedback of all remaps, good or bad.

Yet you continue to leave a question mark after a reference to their product. You seem to be entirely satisfied with with what you have - as am I and many others - but ijits see the title and obviously without reading, start to spread "they have heard.. " type nonsense.

The lady doth protest too much, methinks…

I really don't think it's an issue :yawn:

True you haven't, and the map IS right

Now re-read the title of the thread and think what impression it might give

I put the thread title 'Shark remap not right?' so it stands out for people who have had their car remapped with a Shark map and would be best to answer my question about the figures.

The title doesn't say in anyway anything negative about Shark or their remaps. Just a member of a forum asking other members what they think.

But think how it reads if you change "Shark remap" for "Octavia" or "Coilovers" it struck me as negative.

Well i just had a Shark remap and i thought that may be the problem, so why would i put anything else down?

You've made the fatal mistake of writing something that could suggest Shark are anything but perfect 1000% of the time. Shame on you!!.......lol

If someone claims benefits and thinks their benefits are too low, do they go on a forum?

No, they take it up with the benefits agency

Hardly rocket science is it?

If someone has a problem with their car do they go to a garage or ask a forum first? Depends on the person.

If someone finds a small sliding thing in the glovebox of their do they read the manual or ask a forum first?

Read the what? :p

If I'd had work done on the car and the car didn't feel right or behave as expected, I'd be speaking to the organisation who did the work before asking "the professionals". ;) ;)

This is a car forum to discuse issues regarding our cars. Thats exactly what scott has done in my eyes. If we think something is a miss then everyone should be able to post freely there concerns.

Life's just too damn short

:(

Without meaning to drag the discussion on further ,looking at the title there is a question mark at the end of the title .In my eye anyway he is therefore asking if there is a problem and not stating that he has a problem with the map.

He had a question, it was answered .

All good :)

I agree

It was a question only properly answered by the person who could have answered it, if asked, in the first place
