Octavia vRS front upper strut brace

Featured Replies

Hello again seems like all i do is ask for help! Ive done some research and have bought an Audi tt / s3 front upper strut brace for the octy, but am unsure what length bolts peeps used? I know I've got to drill the top of the struts to fit and I assume stainless steel m10 - but not sure on length.

Once again thanks for the help

M8x30 or M10x30.....

I used M8x35 on mine and I saw that they are longer than what need to be...

Sweet cheers bud, did you put washers on the underside aswell?

I used washers on both sides on my old MK1 vRS.

Also after drilling paint the exposed paint and allow to dry before fitting the brace, otherwise the struts will start to rust.

Yes,as said I put washers on both sides!!!

I have had strut braces on all my cars and do believe they do firm up the feel of the car bud, and this has been no exception, the car certainly feels more firm steering around corners, but additional bracing such as arb and the under braces will be added for even more rigidity. For the money its worth it i think. Takes about an hour to do, the car needs jacking up each side when you are doing it but the wheels can stay on. A little hint i found is on top of the strut already there is a circle of spot welds, try and drill the fixing holes inline with the circle (not necessarily on the welds) because there is a cup with a lip beneath for the suspension. Drilling inline with the circle of welds makes sure you are within the lip. And as said previously i added paint to the exposed metal once drilled, but i popped the bolt through the hole to seal the underside and used a syringe to squirt hammerite into the hole around the bolt and then bolted her up. Happy drilling!

Cheers for the pics and write up matey? I had just ordered mine of eBay last night for £30 delivered. I'll see what condition it's in for paint but prob going to cut the tabs off and paint it anyway so it's nice and fresh.

Yours looks nice and tidy mate.

No sweat guys i left the tabs on mine as they are at the back and cant really be seen! Getting a socket on the nut below to tighten them down is a pain, but not impossible, i used a combination of extension bars and angle knuckle adaptors to get to them.
