Where's my Octavia?

Featured Replies

Ordered a new Octavia III Elegance on 14 May. It was a prebuilt one with some extras. I guess the original buyer pulled out.

Anyhoo I was advised they would try to get it to me by the end of this month. I hoped it would arrive by then but wasn't too fussed if it took a few days more.  I payed the tagging deposit on the 14th May.

Since my date of order the car has not moved from Emden where it was before I bought it. In fact I am quite surpirsed that cars that have arrived to Emden after mine have been shipped to the dealers already! I think these may be VRS's.

After calling my dealer a few times they said there is not a lot they can do until the car arrives in the UK then they can priority transport it to them after that.

My problem is that what order are Skoda shipping the cars in. Does my car actually exist or is it a glitch in the system and it is not actually there? Maybe I am being impatient but I bought the car already built with extras I didn't particularly want just so I didn't have to wait for a newly built one.

Called Skoda UK again yesterday and they said they it can take 4-5 weeks to ship from Emden. This is just ridiculous IMO. Someone different the other day said after 15 days at Emden then they priortise the ones that are still waiting there. So am I being unreasonable wanting the car to have actually moved over 2 weeks after order. I am not too fussed it's not at the dealer but I would have least like it to have moved from Emden.

Mine VRS was built the week of the 12th of may, it was shipped last week and arrived in UK over the weekend, I hate to say this but I imagine due to the long lead times of other cars (especially VRS model) they are probably getting priority!

or your car could be at the back of the car park and they have to move all the others to get to it!

either way I wouldnt stress, just sit back relax and get excited about a new car, I have been waiting 5 months on tomorrow, so I am mega excitited!

Emden seems to be pretty clogged right now, all VAG cars coming to the UK ship from there and there are 2 guys with Audi S1's sat there for 13+ days on the A1 forum who are going as mental as you!

It is correct that the shipyard prioritise any car sat more than 15 days though, so hopefully you will get it soon, but as they seem to have a backlog I'm not sure what prioritised will mean!

All you can do is sit tight, Skoda UK have no power over the ship yard, they will just ship according to their own unpublished schedule.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder!

Wanna a vRS you've gotta wait, don't matter how you try, there ain't no getting round it

vRS buyers beware, if you can't actually touch it (ie. showroom demo) you ain't gonna get it quick, don't listen to the guy in the shrt and tie, he's paid to bull****.

I tagged mine on Saturday, was told it was on a train to Emden and would be ready for me to pick up on the 20th June or possibly before! Pity there is no 'Track your car' available or helpful delivery driver for the SE.

Thanks for the replies. Mines not a VRS though and was already built and finished in March   :|

Just have to wait again I guess ......

Skoda are delaying all non-VRS Octys to make it easier for us waiting on VRSs.

The reality is its probably parked right at the back, something as simple as that very often.

I know I ordered two VW Tourans that were stock ones a few years ago that were at Emden, one arrived at the dealer in a few days, the other one took a couple of weeks, luck of the draw unfortunately.

Anyway, mate some leverage to get some 'keep you sweet' freebies from the dealer when it arrives :-)

Did you get the dealer to commit to the delivery date in writing on the order form?

If so, you may have some bargaining power :)

Yes it's on there as an estimated date.

I get the impression vRS orders are coming though quicker as they are already well behind on deliveries on those.  My Elegance seems to be getting delayed as a result as well.

As for "pre-built", then it probably has ended up at the back of the car park so needs the others moving first.  Mine has a forecast collection date of 12/6 but that's looking unlikely.  I wonder if there are any non-priority ones when they hit the UK...

The main reason I am peeved is the longer I wait makes me think I wish I had ordered one from scratch with the extras I actually wanted.

I oppted for a pre-built as I don't do patience... Told 3 weeks (June 30) or less. It's not been a week yet and I'm chomping at the bit.

Do you know when yours was built?

Nope, didn't think to ask. I was offered two one this side of the pond 1 week away (blue) one the other side on a train heading for Emden (black).. I was happy with blue, she said black.......
