Another oil thread

Featured Replies

I'm quite sure that you realised that my post was simply echoing your post Sparkly.  However, it seems that you and others do not agree with my view that the proliferation of justifiable posts expressing concern about the high oil consumption of the Fabia vRS doesn't warrant endless new threads resulting in the same sometimes vague and unhelpful responses.  Perhaps I might make a modest proposal by suggesting a simple solution - have a "Sticky" for oil consumption issues where the initial post is along the following lines and is updated as evidence and useful information emerges:

Skoda state that oil consumption of up to ½ litre of oil (Castrol Edge 5W-30) per 1,000 kilometres (621 miles) can be expected.  If your car consumes more than that, you may with some difficulty get Skoda to do something about it.  If your car consumes less than ½ litre of oil per 1,000 kilometres you will probably not be able to get anything done about it at Skoda's expense.

Reading the dipstick is not particularly easy:

  • It is hard to read because the areas are not particularly well defined.
  • The manual is not clear as to where the various ares A, B & C are in relation to the hatched area.
  • The manual gives no indication as to how much oil would be required to move the level from the bottom to the top of the hatched area.
  • You should take a reading with the oil at a temperature of 80°C, five minutes after switching off and with the car on a level surface.

Skoda advise that the correct quantity of oil is 3.6 litres and they say that you should not exceed that amount although at least one person suggests that you should put in 3.7 litres of oil but definitely no more.

It may or may not be sensible to rely on the oil warning light - the jury is still out on that one.

It is more than likely that attempting to resolve the high oil consumption issues was considered when VAG/Skoda replaced the CAVE engine with the CTHE engine sometime in 2012.

People can then easily find the most significant and useful information.  There is no need to indulge in the usual pointless rant about what an unfair world it is and how awful VAG and Skoda are.  People are of course entirely free to post their own experiences or observations further down in the thread where they can be safely ignored.

As to the suggestion that I am sort of Internet Troll, it is remarkable how frequently this childish insult pops up where someone puts forward a point of view that is not shared by the vocal frequent posters when they have nothing more useful to say.

I have chosen not to buy a Mark II vRS because I believe that VAG/Skoda will produce a better car in the Mark III by the end of the year.  With the endless negative commentary, it may be that the second-hand market will be so damaged that I might buy one in the autumn ;)

Thats all relevant,

but you are posting smart arse remarks to take the pith, (post #21 & others in other threads)

on what can be a serious subject for those that spent £10,000 plus to find out they got a bad one.

You are helping not one jot, just winding up and taking the mick. IMO

It is obvious from your posts on Briskoda that all you know about Fabia vRS you have read online,

& from road testing 3 or more cars after asking for weeks about them.

Have you now read an actual Fabia Owners Manual rather than take quotes from online posts,

or opened the bonnet of one more than once,?

And i have never ever 'Suggested that anyone puts in 3.7 litres of oil'.

But often say, 'I put in 3.7 litres of oil' and then this is where the oil level shows.

Its not a case of do what i do, its just what someone can try if they want.

Thats the problem with your summing up and Para Phrasing,

its often incorrect, and does not reflect what is in Posts.,

Nissan have the Petrols with Automatic boxes available,

are you off the idea of one?

Just to say. I contacted Skoda UK with a problem regarding RRG Rochdale. They stated because RRG were a franchised business there was nothing they could do. I believe although not 100% sure that all Skoda dealership s are in fact franchisees? ...not good.

I read your other Post about the Dealer.

If it is Manufacturers Warranty repair, then Skoda UK are paying the Dealership to go a proper Guaranteed job, and it is everything to do with them.

If you are a Customer Paying for them to do the work and are unhappy, or a Customer having Warranty work done then speak with and put in writing your concerns

to the Dealer Principal and forward that to Skoda UK Customer Services.

& Maybe get back in touch with Skoda UK and a Customer Services Manager on the first response you got from whoever, because it was just nonsense.

They have been brilliant with my oil issues. They couldn't have been more helpful.

  • 3 weeks later...

I did all what you mentioned, And as i stated in my other thread.. I told Soda UK I had irrefutable evidence to back up my claims but it was all to no avail. They stated that ''we have noted your concerns''.

EDIT,

Do you want the work done under Warranty with Skoda UK, or the Dealership?

Do you have a Case Started with Skoda UK ?

ie them footing the bill

PS, i read have your other Thread now.

Is it about a phone compatibility, and a seat and nothing to do with  Oil or a Fabia ?
