Observations on Octy colours on the road

Featured Replies

Just came back from a 6000km roadtrip that took my Octavia through 10 countries in Europe (from the Baltics to the Balkans and back).

As is natural with a newly bought car, I kept noticing the same model here and there and everywhere. I quickly saw all of the 12 or so brochure colours or "common" colours on the road. Out of which, I think rally green is the only one that I only saw once.
Also saw some custom order colours. Met an orange one and some funky looking shades of green and blue (one of which I had seen earlier at a dealer's showroom -- somebody ordered a custom color and then cancelled and the dealer was unsuccessfully trying to sell the car at the premium price that comes with ordering a custom color from the factory  :)).

As well as some taped-over colours, mainly yellows but also one extremely matte black, almost like chalkboard paint but not quite.

But what I really meant to say as a personal observation is that white is by far the most common color for the Octy in central Europe. By an absolute landslide. It seemed that most people who have the new Octavia have gone for white. The sheer amount of white Octavias was somewhat surprising at first but then again, they do look really good.

In the UK, white and race blue are most common. I've yet to see a metallic red on the road but must have spotted all the others.

Couldn't agree more!

I have hardly spotted any Octy 3s since I started looking for them a few weeks ago. Strange since I thought they were very popular.

There's a good few round Edinburgh that I see all the time.  Even though I love my Race Blue I'm starting to think it wasn't the best colour, imho Skoda have ruined the colour by offering it as a non-vrs colour.

I've only seen one white vRS and a few "normal" octavia's and they looked stunning, I just really worry that it'll shortly come crashing out of fashion and be really difficult to shift.

There's a red Octy estate about here that looks lovely - but swmbo doesn't like red.

Still only seen five of them on the road (vRS that is), three White, one blue, one meteor grey. Still holding out to see a green one, I do rather like that.

I've only seen one other denim blue - on an Elegance estate purchased by my brother in law. Quite a few race blue - it's a great colour - and a few whitre ones. A neighbour has a new red vRS estate.

I begrudged paying so much money for metallic paint and white was the only solid colour I liked. Suspect its the same deal for many others....also white is one of the better vRS colours IMHO.

You want white (solid, not metallic) on a Golf Mk 7 and it's £250 extra!!

The Rio Red looks good with a cream interior and wood trim :)

Plus most of the original Skoda marketing predominantly showed white cars, (which imo nicely showed off the clean lines of the car) so that's another factor on why its such a popular colour now.

Likewise. Only seen four estates (1 VRS) and no hatchbacks since I ordered mine in March. The VRS was black and of the other three, two were also black and a white.

Saw two other mk3 today in Sheffield. Both race blue same as mine... seems I picked a popular colour!

I followed one like mine up to M1 J35a yesterday, it also had the 18" alloys like mine but no stealth L&K chrome trim!

One followed me to junction 31 with a private reg starting K33

Common as muck these race blue wannabee vRS's !! Great spec on your car btw, not much change out of £30k assuming you got a bit of discount!

If you see a Vrs Rallye Green Estate with black pack and special VRS reg in the North East, it could be mine. I did see in a space of 3 days just before I got mine 1 blue,1Green hatch and 1 green estate. Since then, nothing.

Got a bit of a discount yes, was just a smidge over 28k with 0% PCP, I went a bit bonkers with the extras but it still came out cheaper than the A3 I was originally looking at and much more room in it. Although still kinda wish I had the 184ps instead of 150ps but oh well! Will eventually remap this in a year or so and hopefully have around 200ps and haldex 4x4 :)

I'm sure it will be worth it to have the 4x4 and all those goodies if you plan to keep it a while. Our MkI 4x4 was awesome, really miss that car, and let her go at 8 yr old for way too little cos it had only done 42k as SWMBO used it most of the time while I was plodding up and down the country in a rep mobile!

As many have already commented, the 150CR is a bit of a peach in its own right, easily out-running a MkII vRS CR170 in a straight line, mine is loosening up nicely now with 22k under its belt, feels much faster now and eager to press on when not really trying. Economy is rising too, got a feeling my first 60+ brim to brim might be just round the corner as current tank currently averaging 62 after about 100 miles and got a steady trip to Whitehaven tomorrow

Original plan was to keep it for 8 to 10 years but will see how it goes. First fill up tomorrow after about 480 miles, computer says about 43mpg so far, hopefully it will improve a little with more mileage :-)

The first off the line in right hand drive were white and blue estates. Uk build alocations of these were very quick deliveries of around 7--10 weeks (not the 23 weeks like my mkll ). I knew this when i ordered, without this knwledge l think i'd not be in a Skoda again if l had to wait too long. Free colour at present, can see the day soon when any colour is a cost option

TBH any range colour should be free, its not like they can't paint it !

Funnily, I normally see the same car once I have one, but in the case of the O3 I have hardly seen any on the road ... I have noticed more Audi A4 and Merc C2xx which were on my alternative lists !

Audi A4 & Merc C class very common.

I too have yet to see any MKIII hatch vRS, I have seen a few non vRS in various colours, seen a few vRS estates of which 2 have been in Meteor Grey, a couple in Race Blue and a couple in Candy White.

Pass a white hatch going the other way most mornings I'm heading to work on the A166, other wise silver, light grey, race blue, and corida red (the latter two in vRS guise).
