Air vents burning hot

Featured Replies

Anyone experienced their far left and right front air vents getting extremely hot.  After driving a bit on a mild day the far left and right vents seem to be pupping hot air out from what i can only think is the engine bay?

They get so hot that you almost cant touch them especially the chrome finishes.

Had it in to Skoda on Thursday.  They checked their computers and no fault showing.  Seems really odd or is it just normal?

Noticed that with mine too, Skoda say it's fine.

I just keep them closed when the weather gets warm and open the sunroof.

Thats really bizzare and quite poor.  All the other vents are cool just the far right and left.  Seems silly to have to keep the vents closed or have the air con on when it not even that warm outside the car

Yes, that's happened a few times on mine now but the last time was about 4 weeks ago. I did mention it to the dealer when the cruise stalk went to be replaced but he couldn't find any fault. He did say that it wasn't right though. I suppose it's just possible that software update they did after changing the stalk solved the issue. If it happens again,  next time I have a long journey to do, I'll take it in and put the miles on their car.

Is it permanent? If so, I'd say it's definitely bust as mine isn't. If they don't show interest,  you could ask them to compare yours to their demonstrator as they won't let them keep faults.

Is the car a diesel? Bet it goes hand in hand with a DPF regen. Has this on my Mk3 and Mk2 but only affects the fresh air vents when the climate is off.

Also worth noting that if you turn the climate off whilst set to a resonable temperature when it shuts down the car will deliver air to the temp the car was set at. You have to set it to LO before turning off to ensure you just get air temperature.

Never had this on mine, I just get air for the temperature it's set it.

Is the climatronic set to Auto with the A/C on as well? or are you manually setting a fan speed and which vents air is directed to?

Is that right.  Yes its when i have all climate settings off.  Just to be clear they are turned off when i start the car and drive away.  Im not turning them off once i have driven a while with the climate system on.  Can it carry on delivering hot air if the system is turned off?  I thought if the system is off then its off and shoudnt deliver any heated wait

If so that i will check that i am putting it to the low setting before turning it off.  I hope this works as it will be a great easy fix

Yes it is a diesel.

Do DPF regens happen while driving?  If so how long do they take as it can be delivering hot air for the whole journey

Just leave the climate control on all the time, that's how it's meant to be, makes the car more comfortable.

Is the no fuel consumption impact?

Negligible - the AC compressor is a variable type. I can't see any noticeable difference between enabling it or not.

Leave the climatronic on AUTO and A/C turned on, and set your desired temperature.

If youa re concerned about fuel consumption, press the setup button on the climatronic unit and set the A/C profile to the lowest setting, so it will use lower fan speeds and less A/C (that's how I understand it works anyway).

Is the no fuel consumption impact?

Not enough to measure. If you want to waste fuel then try driving with your window open.
