Fabia vRS Xenon Light Adjustment

Featured Replies

OK, so yesterday I had my car serviced at JBS (Thanks guys!) and while I was there, I broke out my laptop to reset my Xenons...

While the car was up on the ramps, we had a look at the sensor attached to the rear beam and it was just plain wrong!

I can't really describe it properly, but basically, the metal arm that goes between the sensor and the beam had moved from what should be a position like this: /\ to a position like this: \/...

This put the sensor in totally the wrong position and it had absolutely NO travel (even when we jacked the rear of the car up), so we moved it back up to look like this: /\ and it then worked properly!

This is something to watch out for with extreme lowering!

Anyway, I then reset my Xenon height to centre using VAG-COM, then manually adjusted the lights with a screwdriver to get them right...

I went for a drive last night and bloody hell... THIS is why I spent however much on the option!!! hahaha... Absolutely fantastic! I hardly had to use my full beam at all! They have NEVER been anywhere near this good, and when I lowered the car, they were worse than useless.

I think another night-time drive might be in order tonight :D

Just a quick note to Skoda: When doing a PDI on a new vehicle equipped with Xenon headlights, PLEASE adjust them correctly. When a customer spends

You will probably find it was set right at PDi.

When lowering car you should get the headlamps adjusted afterwards, especially if you have Xenons. You have shortened the distance between the rear axle and the body so you would need to reset it the same as you do if you have a brake proportioning valve.

Sorry mate, I tried to explain that they were never right... They were never set right, and it seems that other people on the forum are complaining of this too!

They obviously got LOTS worse when I had the car lowered.

I understand the principles of how the xenons level themselves and the consequences of lowering (see my off topic posts on the EGR thread).

Oh ok, looks like a build issue then. I'll keep an eye on it on new vRS's then, cheers :)

I trust mine will be ok when i get it on Thursday !!!LOL

Ive always thought they shine too close to the car. And im wanting to drop it soon-ish so if I went and asked my Skoda dealers nicely, do you think they would adjust them for me? Or would it cost me!!

Ask them to check it, if its fitted wrong its covered by our warranty.

I had a 53 furbyVRS wiyh halogen lights which were awsome then changed for an 04 with lots of toys including xenons and to be honest i thought i had wasted my money on them!!!!!! that was till the nice mr josh posted a thead on how to adjust them

(huge thanx) and wow id never go back to halogen if i could help it once again thanx big guy :cool:

No problem Johnny... Glad to have helped.

I've just been out for a quick spin and they are absolutely fantastico!

Mine were badly wrong when I picked up the car. Dealer sorted it after I insisted that YES they could be adjusted and YES I wanted them adjusted. Lights were ace after that. Unfortunately the car was serviced after that and they're back to how they started - i.e. rubbish. I will be buying vagcom in the not-too-distant-future I think ;)

So to adjust them like Johnny05 said you need vagcom?

I've always thought mine were set wrong as the beam does not go very far at all and just seems to hit the road not that far ahead. I've just had my 1 year service and asked them to check it but they said it was fine.

Don't trust the dealer straight away - mine supposedly 'fixed it' after they claimed it couldn't be adjusted. It was 100% identical and I drove it straight back. You can tell in daylight that the lights are adjusted wrongly already, let alone when it's actually dark.

Second time they did a proper job. If they can't sort it, go elsewhere, it's a waste of money having Xenons if they're adjusted down to negate all benefits of having them.

all you need is a flat surface and wall or garage door, use the required distance as speced by the MOT and mark the hieght, use a phillips screwdriver and adjust the white plastic screw behind the headlight a bit at a time. the light then adjusts itself back down turn it again just a touch and it will stay were you want it. and when you have people or weight in the back they self adjust perfectly. dont thank me thank Josh

If you've lowered your car, you will need VAG-COM and a screwdriver, but if you're running stock suspension, you *should* be able to get away with just adjusting the lights with a screwdriver.

After fitting the different bulbs, I can tell my headlights will need adjusting upwards. Especially since the car has been lowered a tad.

Josh, where & how is the sensor fixed to the axle?

If I move it without adjusting the settings via VAG-COM, will this fool the system into adjusting the height?

Passenger Side of the rear axle.

I wouldn't try to mess with it mate... Find someone local with VAG-COM to sort it properly.

OK. Understood! ;)

Find someone local with VAG-COM.

Is there anyone with VAG-COM in Kent/South East London?????
