Cant decide what engine monte carlo or vrs

Featured Replies

Hi guys i have been looking at fabia monte carlo 1.6tdi and 1.2 tsi (105bhp) and the vrs version but i want it to be adapt to my life style (economical) but punchy so ive come here for your opinion i like the look of the vrs but what is the mpg like is it quite bad ?? cheers guys

Youd be better posting in the mk2 fabia section really mate.

What mileage are you doing? Do you do enough to justify a diesel?

If not, what do you want from the car? The 1.2tsi is a brilliant engine. Its got plenty of torque from low down in the revs, right up to the redline. Itll also get 50mpg without too much trouble.

Iv never driven the vrs, but i personally think its suited to somebody who doesnt do too many miles, but does enjoy to drive spirited when they do take it out.

Its not that the vrs appears really bad on fuel (reported 35-45mpg seems common) just that they arent really high mileage engines. Some have had engine replacements and oil consumption has been an issue on some units.

I think the 1.2tsi is the best all round engine, in either 86 or 105bhp form.
