Water in Footwells

Featured Replies

Hi all, looking for some help. I have a Mk1 Octavia estate 4x4 (2001on a Y) and have found quite a lot of water in the offside footwells. Rear is worse than the front. Was fine a week ago when I had the mats out but it is now completely sodden! We have had heavy rain last few days and I have had the car for a year and a half with no problems like this. Thanks

Door membranes, drainage channels being block under the scuttle panel, sunroof drains.

Have a search on it, water in the footwells is a common topic!!

Welcome to Briskoda, btw.

Scroll back to threads started around Jan / Feb... there's about 1 per day started on water ingress :D

As Mbames says - Scuttle Drains behind the front wheel arches choked with crap is probably the best bet...

then checking the membranes behind the door cards.

and Welcome along to the Forums :)

Had the same problem in mine and as mac11irl says it was a build up of mud at the back of the front inner wheel arch. Cleaned the mud out and not had the problem again since.

Thanks guys and thanks for the welcome!

Do you think you've resolved the issue

Simboy

I have this problem on my Vrs. I took apart the doorcard on the drivers side, and the door membrane had a lot of cuts in it and was taped with masking tape. I took this off and replaced with bin liner and loads of insulation tape as a temp measure, however refitting everything, now the indoor handle does not open the driver door.. :-( The cable hasn't snapped and is hooked on behind the handle, so what could be the issue..?

I had a similar problem on my 2004 vrs, the boot and rear footwells were soaked!turned out there was a tiny hole in the scuttle drain on the boot!looked like where a welding point had been!

Put a bit of silicon and that was it sorted!

Maybe worth a look!
