Octavia 2013 vrs

Featured Replies

Hi guys went past the dealer I bought the car from in Aberdeen Specialist cars Scotland.. Went in to see if I could buy some of the correct oil... He said parts dept not open today but asked if I had been given any oil when I bought the car... I had not, so he went and got me a free bag with oil. Most impressed, a little act but very much appreciated and great customer service....

Anybody had rain water collecting in the front doors? I pointed this out to him, he had never heard of this but will talk to the mechanics tomorrow. He thinks it may be the rubber door trim that is collecting the water... Anybody come across this al

Water collecting behind the door rubber is not uncommon, I know a few have tried to find a remedy, not sure how successful they have been.

How were the dealer in genenral when buying the car?  Might be dealing with them soon.

I get rain water collecting on all 4 door sills. As soon as I open the door/s it spills out onto the floor.

The lesson there is to stand back a little from the door when you open it after rainfall. Otherwise you get wet tootsies!

Thanks everyone. Re info Coullstar... I had a very bad experience in a Worcester dealer a couple of weeks before, while visiting my son. The sales man was awfull, fulll of himself as I was nearly away to buy from the dealer a Superb that was like a black limo. He tried to talk down at me and claimed his garage was not a cheap one as you might find around the Uk according to him. So within three minutes of meeting this chief salesman I walked away and he lost the cash, if he had left if to the girl they would have sold the car.

So rather reluctantly I went into Aberdeen specialist cars as thought no point in buying in Aberdeen as I thought it would be expensive as most garages can be above average in prices in this area. Well the Sales man Stephen Mcneney was excellent.. No hard sell.. Take the car for a drive on your own etc After purchase he even insisted on giving my wife and myself over an hour of training to go through all the controls, he insisted on it so that we were 100% happy before we drove it off the lot.

Today he gave me oil.

Most impressed and so far above the ...... in Worcester.

I've been to most of the car dealerships in Worcester - they're all complete numpties.  Think a lot of them are the same chain, which probably explains some of it.

That is very sad to hear, my experience in Worcestershire nearly put me off Skoda and was close to going to another make...

It was a friend at my RC club who said he had a good experience with Aberdeen specialist cars Skpda when he bought his estate.. So I gave them a try.

Re water in the door rubber and door.. Surely it rains in Europe it must have been spotted by the designers surely?

I nearly started a thread on my recent service experience from a dealer located between Kidderminster and Droitwich. I have given them all but one service and a set of tyres but was made to feel on this occasion as if I was doing them a favour by going there. Nothing major just miserable hard work.

To put the top hat on it when I enquiried about an Octy 3 with the sales guy he spent 3 minutes explaining he couldn't sell to business despite me stressing it was a cash purchase by my employer...all the time looking past me at the front door presumably looking for his next appointment.

No offence to anyone in car sales and it might be a generalisation but my opinion of Skoda sales people is very low and it's not just Worcestershire.

Hi everyone. What is the scene with water collecting in the door rubber.. I take it Skoda designers knew about this ? I mean cars have been built and on the go for over a century as indeed rain?

I can not believe they can produce such a Superb(sorry) Octavia VRS and allow this flaw in design all they had to do was copy a Morris minor door Don't understand is it really expected to have water in the door and sills?

Al

You probably could cure it with a belt hole punch to put small drainage hole in the seal at the bottom of the door to let the water drain away,  but what the repercussions on noise, dirt & the road noise I don't know.

And then there's the cost to factor in if it doesn't work & you require a new door seal.

Yes point taken... I just find  it so strange that a designer would not sort this before it went into production... I had years of Ford rust problems many years ago... I know Ford are great now...... I thought Skoda would want to avoid and water traps?
