Featured Replies

Current phone; Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 (regular SIM)

New Phone; Sony Xperia M2 (Micro SIM)

How is it possible to transfer my contacts from the old SIM to the new SIM?

Any help/ tips/ pointers welcome.

Many thanks,

Lee.

Save them to your Google account.

When you sign in on your new phone, or any device, your contacts are there :)

Is that Google Drive, Sam? I just installed that on the lappy but I can't see where the contacts are :(

Lee super quick 5 minute job. Download an app called Zootta you can use across different OS too.

Otherwise sync contacts to googlemail, can be done in settings / contacts.

Settings

Accounts and sync

Google

Select email account

Then check contacts and sync.

If you want a hand Lee give me a shout I'm around the rest of this week as I'm off work :)

Done this recently.

Like above.

Sync your contacts to your Google account.

I think I may have sussed it? On the phone I exported the contacts to the micro SD card in the phone. That shows up as a CSV VCF file in the card. I presume the next step is to import that file on the new phone? Yes/ No?

You can do it that way too I believe. But it's also good to keep the contacts synced with Google that way if you break the phone/lose it you don't lose contacts :).

Oh balls forgot about that pm sorry! Reply coming your way shortly!

Yay! I imported them to Google. They don't make it simple, do they

+1 for google contacts

I've just tried it and synced my sim card to my Google account but I'm not seeing them anywhere other than on my phone. Where do they go.

in gmail, click on contacts

I can't see a contacts label in Gmail. Am I getting confused with email contacts as I don't have any contacts stored in my email accounts. They just appear as I start typing in the "To" box

open up a Google search page and type "Google contacts" and search. It should then give you the right link.

It really is very simple

That works, thanks. I thought it would appear when i went to Gmail from my home page. I wasn't aware that I had to google it.

Also,I was getting confused. I thought it backed up my phone contacts not my email contacts

It links them all. My contacts have phone, email and home address on them. I can sign into any android phone and they'll sync to it

You can cut a old big boy sim down to the correct size/shape too for anyone who cannot grasp how to sync contacts with google. Had to do that when changing from S2 to S4 when I bought one sim free and O2 sent my new sim to the wrong address, sod waiting youtube showed me the way!

Not working for me. All I'm getting is emails and still not getting a link to contacts within Gmail I have to Google contacts

Thanks softscoop that seems to have sorted things for the most part. I can now find a link on my PC to my contacts and switching to desktop mode for Gmail on my phone gives me a link. But for some reason theres no obvious way to view my contacts on my Android tablet, a Lenovo Yoga but I can live with that.

Just frustrating that everyone says its simple but it just doesn`t seem to work for me, I wonder why that is.

Funnily enough I've just been setting my Mum's new Xperia m2 which was delivered for today. Seems quite a good phone thus far.

Well well, I`ve just had a look on the tablet and there is indeed a People app with my contacts listed there, although not complete, ie some contacts with several numbers are only showing one but its a start.

Thanks bubba

I thought I needed to look in Gmail and I searched high and low using both my browser (Dolphin & Chrome) and the Gmail app and theres no sign of a Contacts or People link
