Trade in prices

Featured Replies

From my own experience it does very much depend on how desirable to a particular dealer your trade in is worth; with the last Yeti I had quite a sizeable difference in P/X offers.

So as others have said shop around and be prepared to travel if you want the best deal.

Apart from a dealer demo vehicle, is there such an animal as the oft reported '6 month old one owner' private sale?

About as rare as the 'reported' Yeti in my experience.

Also ex rental cars are a very good buy, people steer clear because of worries about misuse but recent studies have found they are well maintained and just as reliable as privately owned cars. The different style of driving  by renters ensures a good variety of conditions which helps running in. You do have a higher mileage but that is no problem to modern cars and far better than short journeys.

I was referring to genuine private sales that used to be in my newspaper but now, if in existence, on the inter web.

Mine are genuine private sales, but there is usually no interest so I end up letting a dealer have them.

My Citigo was four months old, my Rapid two months and my Fiesta is going in September when it's six months old.

My GT-R was seven weeks old when it sold and both my LEAFs six months old too.

In Oz, seeking a specific model, with so much choice here and relatively few sold, it remains a dream.

Yeti is staying, until 12 months, then another look.
