Mobius Actioncam Problems

Featured Replies

My Mobius ActionCam has been playing up recently. I have it set up with a wired-in 12v socket and USB cable (as per FUBAR's guide on the forum) and have set up the camera so that it powers on and starts recording when it detects an external power source. However, a lot of the time (typically not all the time) recently the camera doesn't start recording. When I plug it in (or start the car if it is already plugged in) the LEDs flash as normal, but instead of the red LED at the back of the camera and the yellow LED underneath it both flashing, the red LED doesn't flash and the yellow LED just stays solid, which according to the instructions means it's in standby mode. Pressing the record button on the camera doesn't do anything.

"Yellow LED remains on:
• The camera is in Video Mode 1 and is on standby."

Sometimes when I unplug it and wait approx 10 seconds and plug it in again it does start recording as normal, but not always. Formatted the memory card countless times and upgraded (and downgraded!) the firmware but the issue still occurs. Anyone got any ideas? It's got a 32GB Sandisk Class 4 micro SDHC card in it.

Perhaps a silly question, but have you checked the settings?

And plug the camera in.

You can set different parameters for the different modes and IIRC one of them is to be in standby mode to start.

Just checked in the software and power on - auto record is set to external only, which is correct. For the different video modes you can only set FPS, resolution, FOV and rotate video 180 degrees.

I don't know about these as my experience is with Blackvue units, but not recording is often due to a lack of space on the SD card and due to a corruption it stops loop recording.

Reformat your SD card and check if this solves it.

This is always my first suggestion with any recording issues.

edit:

Then try a new SD card.

Exactly what I'd have thought my Blackvue and roadhawk both started doing it regularly so I started formatting every couple of weeks and things have been great since shame it didn't catch the bar stewards attempting to smash my windscreen!

If formatting the card or upgrading the firmware doesn't work, then you may have the problem I had with my Mobius (which I never actually got to the bottom of).

It exhibited similar behaviour to yours and ended up going back to China for a replacement (no issues other than a wait if you contact the seller)...

OK so I've found that it records fine until the memory card gets full, then the yellow LED just stays on, no red flashing LED, so it's not recording, even though Loop Recording is switched on in the settings.

I would recommened sending an email to the seller with that info, see what they suggest to rectify it.

Used the camera's inbuilt format tool (hold the M button while you unplug it and until the camera switches off) but still doesn't record. Gonna get a new memory card and try it.

I'm about to chuck my mobius into the bin TBH - Whenever I go on anything over 45 mins it stops recording and just shows a solid red light, turning it off and on again does nothing........ I'm now on my 7th SD card and it always does the same - no use to me like this at all........ gone through all the setting and all appears OK. Delete everything off the card, format it, and nothing.................... yes - I have updated to v3 to see if that did anything, but no........... loop recording is on - yes............

Now with yet another new card, formatted in the settings screen all it shows is the solid red light. take it off the PC and try to charge it up at a mains socket, - nothing, won't even show any flashing lights...........

Getting completely p***ed off with it now - I want something reliable all the time, even more so on longer trips, so time for the bin and get something else I think.............
