Bit more noise from a 1.2...

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Will start a little project thread of my car soon- it's a Silverline 1.2HTP by birth, but I've altered it cosmetically to look more VRS-ish (spoiler, wheels, bumpers etc).

Just wondering, what impact on sound would an intake mod such as a K&N kit have? Also, is there a way to add a K&N kit without removing the big plastic cover? I like the cover and don't fancy removing it to replace with a bit of tubing and a cone filter as I have seen done before.

I just want a little more of a low-end growl when accelerating- it's a ridiculously quiet car!

I might be shot for this, BUT, I have seen people on previous forums (all be it a Honda and Ford one) that people have drilled holes in their air box... There's my suggestion.

I'll wait in the corner shaking for someone to read this and go ape **** :)

Get a sound generator from an Octy or something

A vRS look-a-like 1.2? No wonder people give the vRS a hard time calling them slow! LOL.

IMO you're better off saving the money and getting a vRS

Just be patient and wait for the flexible coupling of the front exhaust section to break, then you'll have all the noise you want. :D

Yes for the far superior engine note.....

The big plastic cover is the air filter, you can't fit another air filter without removing the standard air filter can you!

I know it's quiet, but it's quiet because it's VERY slow so don't bother.

I had a cone filter and vrs exhaust on my 1.2 Fabia, it sounded ok I guess!

I had a blowing exhaust that sounded deeper if that helps you

Don't drill holes in your air box. Fit a proper cold intake to your existing box and fit a pipercross filter. Done.

As for exhaust, the biggest constraint is the cat directly attached to the manifold. I might have something for that in a bit, but best option is a local powerflow dealer I would have thought.

More news as I get it, my fabia 2 build thread should answer questions and have relevant images.

My 1.2 HTP sounded a million times better than my 1.9tdi PD100!

Probably that cheeky 3 pot engine!
