Unexpected increase in premium

Be careful.  Most insurers hide behind a catch-all about telling them anything that may affect their view of the risk you pose - even if would have no bearing - and can (and have) used something irrelevant and not disclosed to avoid paying out.

A friend who used to run business studies courses in prison to help people to become self-employed on release (before this Government cut back on funding for anything that might realistically reduce reoffending) would tell those on the course that they had to disclose their conviction when applying for any insurance for anything (even though the companies generally do not ask).  It seems that there have been cases of an insurance company finding out about an irrelevant (in terms of the insurance risk) when a claim is made and deciding that this failure rendered the policy void.  Apparently they have been known to void a household policy becomes somebody (not the policy holder) with a conviction is living there and they were not told.

what forces? The courses are run by the council that ran and maintained the camera not the police.

Well the council don't run the camera vans and mobile roadside cameras.

Thanks for all replies. It seems that to be on the safe side my insurer should be informed of pending SAC.

I do quite a lot of travel by car in France and Germany and so far have not been caught speeding mostly because 130 kph motorway limit in France is ample for my needs; Germans drive like the wind on the autobahns so it would be difficult for me to break speed limit even if I wanted to! But if I were caught speeding and were given a fixed penalty or worse I suppose this would also have to be reported to insurer.

Where there are limits in Germany, they are strictly enforced and a fine is payable at the roadside otherwise it's off to jail
