Bmw wheels on Mk1 VRS

Featured Replies

Is there anyone one on here that is running bmw fitment wheels on their Octavia? Trying to see how they sit on them many thanks for any help

Pretty sure BMW are PCD 5x120, mk1 Octavia is 5x100 so can't see them fitting.

Not meaning to sound rude was aware of difference in stud patterns and offsets and knew would be running adapters was the only way to get these to fit but what I'm after is to see how they fit and how people are running them if they are using bmw wheels

It's not rude at all mate.  I've never seen this done but there again I haven't seen everything in life.  I'm aware that Landrover and Mercedes wheels have been tried on the Octavia (and Mk4 Golf etc), but not BMW wheels.  Which style were you thinking?

Seen it on golfs a lot I know they are technically the same floor pan and set up think the rears will be ok and looking at it will need to run a 215 instead of a 225. ygeju9a2.jpg These are the wheels I brought

Nice.  Maybe someone can photoshop them on for you?  What's the offset and width of the wheel?

It's a 18 x 8 with  e.t20 offset. Ideally was after a day to day living with them as not sure if going to have to run a slight amount of camber on the front to clear the arches as with a 15mm adapter thickness think will have to machine the mounting face by 5mm to help get clearance I know people all say buy a wheel off the shelf but I want them to stand out and not look like common place wheels

Seen loads of beemer wheels on Mk4 golfs etc so see no reason why they wont fit an octy with the right adapters and tyres. X5 wheels seem to be most popular.

Here's a quick photoshop of what they could look like

Looks ok and cheers for that just wondering about front arch clearance mainly. Have had them tapped flat at work so shouldn't rub in theory but as we all know theory and practical don't go hand in hand all the time

I have seen a couple of Mk4 golfs/Bora's with the BMW X5 tiger claws fitted, so it has been done

I've just had a look at those on Google image.  They're flippin' massive!  It looks pretty good but I reckon it'll kill the handling.

8x18 should be fine thankfully

Are the wheels et20 before adaptors?

  • Author

Yes they are so is going to be a tight fit

Well after the smallest adaptors at 15mm you'll be at et5 so a lot will depend on tire size and how low you intend to run

My Porsche wheels after adaptors were et19 on the front and I could tuck them with the arch lip rolled

So yours will poke more which might be ok if you don't run too low and use 205 tires

It isn't going to be stupidly low put it that way. Seem to work ok on golfs mind

Et5 :D

Would just be a 205/40/18 wouldnt it

The biggest prob is a 8j wont really pull a stretch even with 205 tyres

They do them tiger claws in other widths to dont they ?

How does that adjust the offset?

Mostly on mk4s dont they use the 19s with the et50 odd offsets ?

Will be around that maybe et10 with the backs machined by 5mm

Et5 is nowhere near ideal but as the wheels are bought and you want to try them then that's all you can do is try lol

Lloyd is right that you won't get much stretch on an 8 but by going 205 you'll pull the sidewalls in as much as you possibly can but there going to poke regardless of what you do.

If you look at the front on picture of my car you'll see the outer rim on the front is pretty flush with the arch, well your wheels will stick out by another 14mm,so there could be a chance of damaging your wheel arches if you lower your car too

And Lloyd you can't alter the et unless you get smaller custom adaptors but I wouldn't feel safe going less than 15mm, but I have seen it done or you can get the rear mounting faces machined down, but again although it's been done by people,I personally don't like the idea.

Most people who use adaptors to make other manufacturers wheels fit will do so with a wheel with an et between 40 and 60 to give them a chance of getting a decent fitment.

I didnt realise or take note he had them bud :D

I could just remember looking at the 19s and they were et53 or such

So wondered if there were other 18 inch options

If u have them

And u wana try

Go with the 205/40/19 NANKANG AS-1

It got a out the box style stretch look , it will be your best bet

It may be the design to get u a few extra mm's ;)

Ah so if i read everything :D

I now see what u have purchased hehe

Not tiger claws

Up to speed now ha ha im poo
