Hello all,

 

Has anyone had Revo installed on the 1.2tsi? I'm booked in this week to have it done. Just wandered what anyone thought?

Do you mean a REVO Stage 1 map ?

Are you OK invalidating your Manufacturers Warranty if there still is one on the Cars Engine.

I'm just hoping that their software writers are better than their web designers as it doesn't give you lots of confidence when they even get the simplest of things wrong!

I've got revo on my octavia vrs tsi and interested on remap for my wife's 1.2tsi 86bhp monte carlo. Be good to hear what you think once it's done. I've had revo various cars both petrol and diesel with good results.

Revo did tweet on their twitter page a couple of months back saying they were in the stages of testing stage one on a 1.2tsi Monte Carlo.

If it can be mapped through the obd port I don't see a problem with revo.but having the ecu taken apart I would have second thoughts.

As long as it's resealed properly then I don't see any issue if the ecu did have to be opened. I used to work for a tuning company and have opened various ecus in the past before they were able to be done via obd - bmw e60 m5, e63 amg , bmw 535d to name a few. Never had any issues. Flashing via obd does of course make it much quicker/easier (we invested a lot in all the various software/hardware required to read/write for the "more difficult ecu") but it is still possible for things to go wrong even doing it through obd port. Less technical knowledge required by dealers just to flash through obd.

Conversely, there are (were) members on these boards who had ECU removed and put back after re-map done in such an appaling way that it looked like somebody used a crow bar on it and the put it back together using some black mastic . Not all tuners are worth their salt and some are to be avoided loke a bad rash!

I was one of those that had a bad experience with my ecu being opened and frying itself whilst in the south of France.:-(.not something I would like to happen again.

Well i had it Revo'd today (through the OBD) and i'm well impressed, totally transforms the car. It's so much quicker pulling hard all the way through the revs and so much more pull when i put my foot down in top at 65/70.

 

This is now my 4th VAG car i've had Revo'd (Octavia vrs tfsi, Fabia 2 1.9tdpd sport, Passat 1.9tdpd and now my Monte 1.2tsi) and every one has been great.

 

If you're thinking of having it done... just do it, you'll have a grin from ear to ear

My car is the 86ps and it's £399+ for the stage 1. 

 

I've been exchanging emails with Revo for a week or so, basically asked if they had developed a map for the 1.2 and they told me they had but they need to know the ECU id code to see if my ECU was locked or not (it isn't)

Hi James, my Monte is 2013, they quote 144/215

So a 86 ps is going to feel an improvement even if only taken to 105 ps (103.5 BHP minimum) which puts like 110 BHP Plus in the UK on 95 ron.

To be fair, when i was buying the car about 9 wks ago i test drove the 86ps the 105ps and the 105 diesel. I really liked the diesel but fancied a petrol for a change and can't really say i noticed much difference between the 86 and 105, so opted for the slightly cheaper 86ps with remapping in mind because which ever one i got i'd have remapped, and with the end result being the same it made sense

144bhp......thats a fantastic gain. Thought they went to 125-130bhp. Maybe need to email them my ecu code and see if it can be done.

Read in another thread that when dyno'd the tsi 105 is actually putting out closer to 120bhp as standard.

So its not as big gain as you think.

Yeah, but we all know bhp figures is look at the size of my willy talk  . It's how the car drives in the real world that counts, and for a 1.2 it's pretty feckin awesome  .

I always look at the shape of the torque curve - you can tell a good map straight away

its a little gem that 1.2tsi, love the way the little turbo kicks in at under 2000rpm, like a little bang.

Must be very rapid in the fabia, i had mine mapped in a Yeti and it was hilarious fun.

This is putting ideas in my head haha

I've noticed they've put up the power graphs on the website. Torque shoots up pretty quickly!
