Power steering pump has gone on my fabia MK1 vrs pd130.

Just wondering How much of a job is it and if anyone has a basic step by step guide.

Confident with mechanics and got mates who are mechanics who can help out but rather just get it done.

Got a reconditioned pump already so just need to switch them over.

Not sure on the Fabia but as it shares some common features with the Seat Ibiza, which I have, then when mine was done I know it was a bit of a b*tch. Basically the mechanics told me they almost had to strip off the entire front of the car... so it was a days labour... not cheap but no other option. It's ok if you can start at the weekend and not have to go anywhere until it's done.

You can do PAS pump on the Fabia just removing left front wheel and the arch liner.

 

Basically the physical removal is a doddle.  There's three bolts, I think 13mm that hold the cage to the chassis.  There's 3 electrical connectors on the front which to be fair are easier to access with bumper off, but no need to remove slam or anything.  Then it's just the matter of the hydraulic lines to the rack - Two of them I think.  The angle sensor wiring runs down the same section too.

 

Generally, all will become clear when you expose the pump and have a good mooch.
