SD card not reading in Columbus

Featured Replies

Hi

We have a new 14 plate skoda superb elegance 170 DSG (registered 24/3/14). Having spent hours downloading and arranging music into folders the columbus system doesn't acknowledge the SD card when we put it in. It's a Sandisk SDHC 32GB card.

Anyone else had this problem or have any idea how to fix it?

Thanks

Kirsty

Is the SD card formatted to fat32?

And I assume the files are all mp3?

yes, check the file format. It won't play files in the default format from iTunes.

Use that to rip all your files into MP3 192K's

I had ca 300W Ford Sound System in my previous Mondeo and you coud clearly make a difference between 192 kbps and 320 kbps mp3 tracks.

Just for you attention.

And to continue with SD card, you can also use 64GB cards. Only you have to reformat it from exFAT into FAT32 filesystem, using guiformat_64GB or similar program.

Bit off topic (sorry Kristy) but I've noticed that when playing direct from CD there's a peculiar warble from the track like its been run through an auto tune but its crystal clear if I rip it to MP3 and play it from the SD card. Now I've spotted it, it appears on almost every CD.

Foobar2000 is an excellent audio player for PC, and can also convert to 320kbps mp3. You might need to download a lame plug-in too.

Fair point but I suggest 192 as a trade off to get more tracks in, 320's fill the drive rather quickly, unless the drive is limited to how many tracks it can read and if it's something silly like 1000 tracks it's time to go APE and give the dealer some FLAC :D

L&K 10 speakers are amplified. I have a mpeg-4 DVB-T tuner fitted into my car, which also plays FLAC. And that`s pretty nice what comes out of there.

Sorry for OT.

We have almost the same configuration: L&K 170 DSG + Sandisk Ultra II 32GB. The card is formatted to FAT32 and I created a single directory at the root (because I think I read somewhere about a limit to how many files/things are supported in the root directory.

Everything under that is basically a copy of my iTunes music folder on our PC. All the CDs are ripped to MP3 and 192bps VBR (FWIW). Seems to work just fine, but I find that browsing the music structure is rather sluggish.
