237bhp 2.0 TDI BiTurbo

Featured Replies

According to Auto Express this engine will be in the top of the range new Passat. Would make a Yeti fly!

Another new arrival is a 237bhp 2.0 TDI BiTurbo engine, developing 500Nm of torque. It will be the new range-topping variant – offering 62bhp and 120Nm more than most powerful previous diesel engine – but available only with a DSG gearbox and 4MOTION all-wheel drive, returning a claimed 53mpg.

Yep!

Of more interest I think is the new 120 PS 1.6 Tdi engine. Hopefully this engine will soon find its way into Skoda models.

120bhp in a Yeti is not of any significant interest to me. There are already lots of slow options! ;)

Agree with you there Sporty... er I mean Sporky.

maybe they'll go all out and fit the impending 3.0 V6 twin turbo with e-boost that's goot for 380bhp?

or of course maybe they won't

Now you are just being silly. I think we'll have to settle for the 184bhp diesel engine as being the most powerful future Yeti but I think the new 148bhp diesel will be the sweet spot engine, especially if the next generation Yeti looses a bit of weight.

I think two Yeti VRS models would work. The CR240 already mentioned, and a detuned Golf R engine at about 270PS. No lowering, modest body kit, maybe some larger wheels as an option, and the "VRS colours" (Race Blue and that vicious green) available. Inside some slightly more buckety seats (maybe in alcantara)... I think that'd be perfectly in keeping with the Skoda brand.

If we're being silly, there is also this engine in the VAG stable:

Type: V10 90° IDS, 40 valves
Displacement: 5,204 cm³ (317.6 cu.in.)
Bore and stroke: Ø 84,5 mm x 92,8 mm
Compression ratio: 12.7 : 1
Maximum power: 610 HP (449 kW) @ 8,250 RPM
Maximum torque: 560 Nm (412 lbft) @ 6,500 RPM

Might be a bit of a job fitting one in a Yeti but it should certainly make it go quite fast.  Bear in mind, though, that the vehicle that currently uses this engine weighs about the same as one of the 4x4 versions of the FL Yeti with a stock engine in place.  Said vehicle also has all wheel drive.  OTOH the driving position isn't quite as good as the Yeti's.

New Skoda Superb: engine range

There’ll be five petrol engines – from a 123bhp 1.4-litre with active cylinder management to a 276bhp 2.0 – and three diesels, from an 118bhp 1.6 GreenLine to a 187bhp 2.0. The UK will definitely get the diesel range, while discussions about petrols are ongoing.

If the new 2015 Skoda Superb isn't getting the 240CR Diesel engine there's zero likelihood of it going in the next gen Yeti.

Let's go wild and raid the Lamborghini parts bin - 720 bhp V12 anyone?

For the environmentalists there's also a range of frugal v-twins from Ducati.

I'm not sure it'd even fit - I recall reading that it won't fit into the Golf's engine bay. A darned shame.

A go few years ago a german tuning company shoe horned a V8 into an A3 so out will fit it just depends on how deep your pockets are
