Hello from Dover

Featured Replies

We've had a succesion of VW's over the last 30 years, mainly Polos but also a couple of Jettas and most recently a Passat Estate. When that started to have an ABS problem and with 219,000 miles on the clock we decided on a change. Thelm spotted a Roomster and we both liked the quirky looks that one reviewer unkindly described as 'cut and shut', the large load space and the panoramic glass roof.

After a lot of searches and a couple of viewings we settled on a 2008 Roomster 3 with the 1.4l TDi engine and 65,000 miles on the clock. I'd originally hoped for the 1.9l but couldn't find one in our price range locally. Though some reviewers didn't like the 1.4l we've found it quite lively, it cruises happily at 70mph with reasonable acceleration for overtaking and is nippy round town. We like the firm ride which makes it corner almost like on old mini and though it sounds a bit agricultural on tickover, it's fine when buzzing along. There's not too much road noise and overall it's comfortable and pleasant to drive.
