Hill start with auto dsg.

If you have hill hold why are you bothering with the handbrake.

I only use the hand brake when stationary for long time - sitting at lights etc - just find it easier than having to keep foot on brake and safer should my foot slip. I do find it irritating to sit behind a car with brake lights blazing for long periods when dark, so out of coutesy to the driver behind I use hand brake instead of foot.

Also why are you going al the way up into Park? You can nudge the box into N then when you're ready to go again you can nudge it back to D without even needing to press the button on the side

Its a good question - I will have to check this out but I did not think that the start stop functioned when N selected only D, S or P. As a result of selecting P you have to have your foot on the brake in order to move from P to D so the car will not move until gear selected.

Hill hold

My two penny worth I have noticed that the stop start takes a second or two to engage the gears when starting up, and will, allow the car to roll back momentarily until it engages. I have got into the habit of predicting when the traffic is about to move forward and I lift the brake pedal to a point where the engine fires but there is not enough power to move forward ( it really is a small movement of the brake to start up the engine ) this allows for the gears to engage, then lift off brake fully when time to move forward and hill hold works fine. I also, use this procedure when suing stop start to avoid the 'grab' and sudden lurch I get if I lift off the brake too quickly.

Maybe more design work is required for stop stat, I know of people who have simply turned it off.

why carry an ipod and a phone, stream the music from your phone. works flawlessly ,(unless though  its an iphone- I have read of lots of issues with them on this site)

My iPhone works - just after I got my Superb I was sitting in it wondering where the hell the music was coming from - it was linked to my phone in the house!

With the auto start / stop feature switched on, once the engine has switched off, don't just lift your foot off the brake and straight on to the throttle or else you will notice the hesitation and roll back. Instead slowly ease the pressure on the brake pedal and the engine will fire up again and then as you still slowly release the foot brake completely, the car will have taken up the drive without any or minimal roll back as you press the throttle.

With the Ipod thing, I find myself asking why? you have a built in 20GB MP3 player built i with the Columbus, transfer your favorite music to either a SD card or burn to a CD as a MP3 file and upload onto the built in hard drive, no need for leads etc. and the whole thing is controlled from either Columbus front panel or the steering wheel controls as well. Or as it has been said here, use the music player built in to most modern phones and Bluetooth them into the stereo, so much easier.

First thing after starting the engine I switch off start-stop and by doing it I hope to save starter, battery, turbocharger. And what concerns Co2...I have some additional plants in my garden instead :)
