200-220bhp best turbo?

Featured Replies

I keep verging on putting the 1.8t in my Fantasy Green Fabia... as I have the whole Ibiza.

Have a feeling it'll take ages due to unforeseen issues and lack of spare time. :D

To be honest I've been playing with a similar idea, you don't know how many times I was just going to buy it off you and go for it. I'd have to buy a car for it first though... least you have one ready for it and it's colour is rare as rocking horse crap. I even sounded out a friendly mechanic today who said he'd do it on his down times from work in between jobs, he's done lots of swaps like VR6 into mk2's etc. It's the buying of a car from wherever getting it down here, they're never THAT close, and then stripping it all out. Takes time and more importantly space to do so.

Yes, time is the issue.

Business and young family.

Space not so much an issue, I currently have the Ibiza FR, Yeti VRS, two red Fabia VRS breakers, Fantasy Green classic Fabia breaker and my trailer all locked away undercover at work... Skyline tends to lurk in there as well, staying out of the rain. :D

I guess that'd save a fair amount of money as you have most of the nessecary gear!

or how a petrol 1.8t with 210bhp (simple remap) compares to a diesel 210bhp car.

I think a derv would be slightly faster road car,due to the higher torque.

Spidy senses tell me the 1.8T will be going ahead....

both accelerating from the same speed in the same gear maybe, but drive both in the appropriate gear and I doubt there's much in it

I agree.

My 200bhp diesel Yeti is as quick in a straight line as an Octy running similar petrol power, but the Yeti is heavier and less aerodynamic.

All it has on the stright once rolling is a torque advantage.

My personal opinion, but I think a 220bhp diesel Fabia is more like a 250bhp petrol.  At my rough estimation.

still running a MD376 at 191k! (fitted at 118k)

Could you delete some messages please? As I'm struggling to PM you thanks.

Darkside "Hybrid Killer"turbo ;)

I get my graph in a few weeks hopefully when she gets mapped properly by the boys themselves

Yeah would agree, as my Fabia with 243BHP sticks to the bumper of a 280bhp mk1 Focus RS upto max speed, and will keep with a 3.2 M3 Evo upto 100mph,then the M3 starts to pull away slowly :)

Get the 2260 fitted and you'll be pushing that M3 all the way to 150mph

This thread is just depressing! Here I am struggling to get money together for some cheap coilovers haha

^^^ don't get cheap coilovers, you'll wish you saved up a little bit more

I second this motion

By cheap I mean AP's

Not cheap by any means, but cheap in comparison to what you can pay for coilies

I agree too. I pull on a golf gti 220bhp. Pull about 3 car lengths on it over 1/4 mile. I'm running 208bhp pd150 hybrid

Good plan. APs get great reviews. I believe they are made by kw so are a quality item :)

  • 2 weeks later...

The Turbo Dynamics MDX446 is the stage 2 hybrid PD150 turbo I'm having fitted and mapped this month.

AP Automotive (Shark Dealer) are mapping it for me as I don't want to travel too far.

Will post results up once all done :)

Scrap that Jabbasport are now mapping my car. Feel a bit let down, but hey ho.

What happened mate?

I don't think shark dealers can map hybrids. You'd need a custom map from shark hq

AP Automotive mapped Alex's hybrid via logging and sent them to Shark :)

Ah cool, I spoke to shark recently and they said they'd need my car for a week!

lol what are they doing with it? My map was sorted in about 3 hours I was happy with the way it drove, logs were good and smoke wasn't bad! So didn't see the point in pushing for more! :)

What happened mate?

PM me Dan :)
