Uneven tyre wear, BUT on rears! Any ideas?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Annoyed doesn't cut it.

Not had car long and needed wheels balanced so attended local tyre establishment, 2 minutes later "would you like to com and look at this sir?"

BAD NEWS!!

Front are cracked, which i assume is just old cheap nasty tyres.

BUT, rears and bald only on inside edge, rest has loads of tread left.

Ordered new tyres on Camskill but not fitted yet as worried they will go same way fast.

Should I check anything  or is it likely to be tracking?

Matt

There is no adjustment on the rear axle, if the tyres have worn then something is either bent or worn out. First thing check the bushes, then if they look ok then the rear beam maybe slightly bent.

Rear axle bushes or even worn rear shocks

If they car has been jacked from the rear beam and bent it i would expect it to wear the tyres on the outside not the inside

They do run quite alot of toe in on the rear wheels, stand in front of your car level with the side and look back at the rear wheel, you can easily see the toe in by eye.

You can be shims to put the rear wheels straight,Whiteline sell some :)
